Getting rid of cats.... Don't get me wrong, it's not like I don't like cats. I love them. I even used to be a cat person, and owned a cat for 12 years, before little princess Lulu came into our life. But now I have a major cat problem, or more correctly cat poop problem. A little over a moth ago, my husband and I made a move from an apartment that we loved to a beautiful house with a back yard. The main reason for this move was Lulu. We wanted her to have more space, and a yard to play in. But very shortly after we've moved in we discovered that the yard is problematic. Part of the yard is covered with grass and plants. The other half is covered with gravel. And the gravel is filled with cat poop. The neighborhood cats come to our yard, and use the gravel (and sometimes the grass) as a litter box. To add insult on injury, one of the people in the neighborhood rescues cats. They have over 14 cats, and some of them are feral. When we let Lulu play in the yard for the first time, we realized that all she wants to do is go into the gravel and dig in for "poop gold". She goes to the grass sometimes, and chews on it too, but it mainly the cat poop that attracts her. it makes her mad, and she acts like an addict... LOL We decided to take action: cleaned the poop out to eliminate the smell; we bought some garlic powder crystals that are supposed to help with keeping cats off the yard; and we even got wolf poop from our groomer and strategically placed it around the yard to let the cats know there are dangerous animals here — but to no avail. The cats are back, and they're pooping with a vengeance. I don't wanna use cayenne pepper and things like that because it's dangerous to cats. I wanna find a humane solution, but something that will keep 'em away — permanently!!!! I really don't know what to do anymore. :( If you have ever had a problem like this and found a solution, please let me know. We are desperate here.... Hoping you guys have a good advice.... Thanks in advance, Nadezda & Princess Lulu |

I would go over and talk to the owner of the cats she rescues. Maybe she can add something to their food to make it nasty to your yorkie, or she might have another suggestion. IDK really. What a problem. :( Our local humane society has a cool program right now. They capture feral cats, spay or neuter them, and release them in areas with field mice and other rodent issues, like farms. Farm families sign up to take the cats. |

I love cats too, but I don't like it when they go in our yard. I don't have any advice...but how about putting nice smooth pebbles/small stones on top of the gravel? The gravel sounds like a huge outdoor litter box to me...:D |

There is really nothing you can do. |

I had a cat poop problem also, I redid our planter box in front of our house and the neighbors cat would go in it and poop in there. So I bought this animal repellent granule that you sprinkle around the area where the cat keeps going and it keeps cats and other animals away, it has something in it that they don't like the smell of. I have not seen anymore problems with the cat. |
