How much to feed if you home cook???? I have a male that does so much better if I home cook for him. My little girl is on a special diet due to her liver problems, so I am so used to having a baby that does not eat! But this little boy loves to eat...in fact, I think maybe he has eaten too much! He is just over a year and weights about 8 lbs, but is a little chubby. I don't want him to have joint problems later on, so I'd like to get this under control right now. I think he would eat as much as I would put down! For those of you that homecook, how much do you feed your babies? I have been feeding both in the morning and at night. Thank you! |
When I homecooked, I fed at least 3 times a day because the amount that Ellie needed wasn't too much to split between two meals. She got somewhere around 250-300 calories. |
Thanks. How big is Ellie? Are you saying 250-300 calories per day? I need to convert the recipe that I am using. I pulled it from the recipe forum on this site, but have never converted it to calories. It should be easy to do. I have just been so happy to have a baby that eats! It seems as though everytime he is on some sort of commercially prepared dog food, it is only a matter of days before he has some sort of GI problem and then we are back on HILLS ID - which I know can't be great. Since I started the home cooking - no problems at all...except his chubbiness! I appreciate your help. |

Yes, that was what she needed per day but not all dogs will need that many. It is best to just increase and decrease by looking at your dog. What recipe are you using? Most of the recipes on YT are not balanced and should not be used for daily feeding. |
