How Do I get yorkies to eat raw, help? Hi~ I have a 5 month old and 5 year yorkie, and am trying to get them both on a raw diet. The puppy will eat the raw if I partially cook it, and my adult won't eat it at all. I have tried Natures Variety chicken & lamb and Primal's chicken. Should I just keep the puppy on her grain free kibble that she eats most of, because I don't want to cook this forever? My adult yorkie eats rice and ground beef with vitamin supplements, I really want him off this because I don't think it's healthy. The adult yorkie is EXTREMELY picky, i have tried everything. Help :-) |
Maybe try another meat? Beef, turkey, or pork? You can also add just a tiny bit of yogurt or cottage cheese on it. It may help. And it's good for them! |
you are feeding the raw medallions right? you can sprinkle some cheese on it. what i do for milu is i will cut up (cooked)chicken, steak, and her treats into very small pieces, and use that as a topping on her raw food. |
Raw food Why do you want to feed your dogs that way? My yorkie is 19, has lived on dog kibble with a touch of canned dog food and has done great. Has never been to the vet, other than vaccines, and neutering, and a 10 year check up which revealed eye changes due to age only. |
Raw is an incredible diet, my Snickers is thriving from it...no itching, no licking paws, lovely coat, great teeth and breathe, and loves his food. If you cook the raw, then you are loosing much of the natural enzymes which raw is best for. I think if your dog won't eat the raw as is, yes I think the grainfree kibble would be your best bet. I also do a rotation diet with NV medallions and EVO kibble. |

I just got organic chicken raw nuggets. I heard nothing but great stuff about raw diets. I think most people decide not to get it due to the high cost. I only want the best thing for my baby. I had her on kibbles and canned food but her poop stinks still and she has allergies too on some of the food so I can only feed WELLNESS. I hope to get some great results out of the raw diet |
Sadie won't eat the raw medallions and I am so discouraged. When she was eating them, her coat and teeth looked ideal. I tried the parmesan cheese, but no go. Maybe the yogurt or cottage cheese will work. She sniffs it and runs away, so frustrating. She did eat it for a couple of months and then stopped and I tried lamb and chicken. |
