Wosie (3 1/2 months) had her second bath from me last night. The first time I have used a blow dryer on her, she was fine, but last night she was a terror!! She was defending herself from the dryer constantly until I gave her a chew toy, and then she barely tolerated it, still snapping in its' direction if she thought it got too close. (I never got it any closer than a 10-12 inches). This morning I tried to clip her nails but she struggled so bad I thought she would dislocate her toes so I quit after a few nails. I know this makes her think she is in charge if I quit when she struggles, so it bummed me out, but I did not want to hurt her! Thank you thank you for the nail file idea! I am thinking that she will be more open to that as it won't involve clipping her toe hair, which I think is why she struggled so. Her hair on her feet is really long and it takes a long time to pull it back from the nail so as to not get it caught in the clipper, and then you are bound to get some anyhow and I bet it pulls... I have always massaged her toes when I hold her, so it's not like she is not used to being handled in that way. Sigh, persistance is the key here, I am sure. Glad |
I have the same problem, mulitiplied by TWO. Both of my girls have waaaay too long nails. They wiggle and whine and will NOT be still for me to clip them. I am taking them to the vet tomorrow. I don't care if it cost me $50 a dog -- it is worth it to me. The very thought of cutting too close and making them bleed:::: THE HORROR!!!!! |
