When is flea/tick prevention necessary?? We live in the city so I didn't really consider getting a flea/tick collar, or a spray-on of the sort. But now that it's summer we often go to my parents' house on the weekends, and they live in the suburbs so my doggies are walking around a lot on lawns, going to parks more often, etc. Is it necessary to use some sort of flea/tick prevention method for the season? If so, what are the best kinds? I've read a lot of bad stuff about certain over the counter pesticides bc of their adverse effects on dogs, so I want to make sure I'm not harming them unnecessarily. |
HI, welcome to YT! I use Frontline for fleas and ticks, and sentinel for heartworms. I've also used interceptor for heartworms in the past. Some people use advantix for fleas/ticks also. It depends on where you live and how bad the bugs are in the area. |
I use the same for heartworms. I don't live too far from North Jersey actually-- Rockland County, NY, so I'm assuming the terrain is pretty similar to your area. Thanks for the advice on which brands to use! |
