Orijen, Evo, Instinct=no eye gunk?? Hi all... So everyone knows how much I LOVE NV raw and how much Snick loves it. Well I would LOVE to go all raw, but it's pricey wow!! Anyway, I have been doing the rotation diet with Raw in the morning and Evo (both varieties) in the evening. Well, Snick's eye gunk has not gotten any better, and perhaps has gotten worse. I want to feed him a kibble which will help eliminate this as I'm pretty sure it's the Evo causing the gunk. Does anyone us Orijen or Instinct whose pups don't have eye gunk? I want to stick with grainfree, similar to Evo kibble. Do other Evo users notice alot of eye gunk?? I hate eye gunk!! But hope to god Snick likes Orijen or Instinct as much as he likes Evo if I switch...Hmph:confused: Thanks. Snick & Viv |
it might not be the food you are feeding. Morgan has been on a few different brands and her eye gunk never got better. The problem could be that there is hair, that you cannot see, going into the eye. Morgan has http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...richiasis.html and this causes her eyes to water and form gunk. so no matter what is fed, or given to try and prevent it, its not going to work. |

Yeah, I agree. With the good food you've had Snick on, I just doubt it's the food. This time of year, it could easily be pollen too. Have you tried the distilled water thing a/o apple cider vinegar? I know that's often touted as more for staining, but it may help w/ less drainage too. The gunk isn't green is it? |
Hi Kellie...thank you...actually, I am so maticulous about Snickers eye hair, he is so patient with me and sits and closes his eyes and let's me snip away. He also hates his own eye gunk, so no, no hair in in is eyes at all. I jsut did his eyes on Monday and also have him on 100% raw for the past 3 days and do notice a difference after he has eaten less Evo. I think I might try Orijen, they have a nice small sample bag for a few bucks...no harm in trying right?? I was hoping some friends who use Orijen or Instinct can vouch for less or no eye gunk. It drives me CRAZY!!! |

oh and i've had morgan on raw, evo, instinct, orijen, core, etc LOL no help with the eye gunk. also tried apple cider vinegar, distilled water, and bottled water |
Yuppers..he is on distilled water and I've tried Apple Cider Vinegar..no luck:( I don't want to use Angel Eyes or anything like that. I have tried some eye washes (Calm Eyes) no luck. I've read some others mention a food change can help??? But then again, the 2 of you are so super knowledgeable....hmph!:( |

Waaaa!! I'm sad...I was hoping the food switch would help! Still might try......Are you able to trim that hair that is barely visible?? I wonder if Snick has that... |

Was wondering this myself because ever since I've been feeding Jackson Wellness, his eye gunk has gotten horrible when it never was this bad before on Before Grain. I'm looking at new foods too. |
Thanks gyals.... I picked up the Orijen sample bag and then read that it had fish in it along with chicken and turkey and figured Snick wouldn't touch it. He is not a fan of fish...well, I was wrong..he ate about 9 pellets right away and didn't touch the Evo, so we will see..it might be just for today that he likes it;). |
Have you tried the NV kibble? |

Ann--it could be the season, I have no clue! All I know is if nothing changes (which will take a while to see,) he will be back on the Evo since he enjoys it so much. But I was shocked to see him gobble the Orijen...then again, day 1 so of course he loves it. |
