Yorkie Dandruff We have tried many shampoos on my Yorkie. He is 6 months old and we now wash him with Baby shampoo..But how do I get rid of the Dandruff???Any Suggestions? |
I am against using baby shampoo -- too many harsh chemicals, believe it or not. Instead try a naturally tearless shampoo like Espree Hypo-allergenic Coconut Shampoo. Be sure to rinse well, and then when you think you have rinsed enough, rinse once more. That should take care of the flakies. Also, do not shampoo more thna once a week. If they need more cleaning, use baby wipes between shampoos. |
I recently purchase Mink Sheen and it seems to work great! it's shampoo and conditioner in one. YT member "AMD" sell it. |
I wouldnt bathe any more often than once every two weeks. Use an oatmeal shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner. Sometimes skin problems can also be because of the food they eat. So its good to feed a balanced quality food also. Omega fatty acids given as a suppliment is good for the skin also |
I agree with everything posted.:) Also, if he has any odor make sure the vet sees him. Sugar had allergy related seborrhea and required a special shampoo for a little while. It looks like dandruff but has a smell. Wyliesmom recommended Ark Naturals Royal Coat to me. It a fish and borage oil supplement. That has made a huge difference. His skin is 100 times better since he started it. |
Snickers will get occasional dandruff, more so when he gets nervous like he did at his sitters this past weekend. As soon as I bathed him, he was all better. We use Cloudstar Buddy Wash, Rince, and Spray in Lavender...it smells like heaven!! |
