Does anyone have any advise on what to use for flea and tick prevention?
 

My puppy weighs 3 lbs. The vet wants to use a pill or frontline. Does anyone have any advise? Thanks! I don't want to use anything that can harm him.:confused:

I use Frontline every year, and I think a lot of people on YT use Frontline as well.

Frontine or Advantage are safest for the little ones. Since your guy is so tiny, you might want to try Frontline spray. You can customize the dose by weight.

Just a suggestion...lol...but if you have ever used our shampoo its a 4 in 1 that has a natural insect repellant in it. It gives you everything you need in 1. Alot of people use it for biting insects and the least amount of stuff your putting on your baby the better. PM me if your interested. Have a great day and good luck.

We don't use anything unless we actually see fleas on Ellie, then it is Frontline or I would use Advantage also.

do you have to keep reapplying or does it continue to work until next bath? im desperate for something...frontline not working and my baby has never had fleas before ...

It will continue to repel as long as the scent is there. This is where the diluting or not comes into. If you would like more scent then dont dilute as much and it will repel the biting insects longer. You can PM me if you have any other questions. i don't use frontline or k9 advantix after hearing stories about dogs have sezuires and almost dying.

My Vet gives me Frontline Plus. However, Sophie's a big girl....10 lbs. I'm not sure what to say regarding weight. Even at 10 lbs I was concerned because the dosage was for up to 20 lbs. (or 24 lbs..not sure I don't have the package in front of me).
Either way I started it when she was 6.5 lbs. She's had several doses now with no troubles.

We use Frontline Plus and have never had a problem. Lola is 9 lbs.

Emmett is 8 lbs. I use a half an application of frontline on him. Frontline is the only thing that has ever worked for me.

I have tried natural stuff, it doesn't work for me.

I have tried Advantix, it doesn't work for me.

I have tried the pill, it really didn't work and I think it irritated Emmett's skin.

I looove the scent of Minksheen, I tried it because I did not want to use advantage oooor anything else. I treated my back yard, I only walked them in my treated backyard... left the minksheen on for 3 minutes as it indicates, did not dilute, ... I blow dried as usual... within 2 days, FLEAS. You have no idea how sad this made me. I really wanted a natural product that works.... Minksheen helps for a day or so. I still use it because I love the smell, I purchased advantage but have not applied yet, I am scared as heck to put this on my furbabies :( but it makes me just as sad to see them scratching and bitten :(.

I always used Frontline and never had a problem. Now my vet sells Vectra and we tried that. Has anyone heard of that? I hope it's okay for the tinies.

I have used Vectra - it works on my older dog, but on my puppy, it does not. I have applied it twice in a month and he is still ate up. I don't know if he has to get it really in his system, but I don't know what to do. I guess I'll try Advantage on him and see if that works. I bought a product called Nature's Garden by Sergeant's. Has anyone used that and did it work?

What part didn't work, the flea, mosquitoe or tick prevention? That's really troublesome because we live in a tick-infested area.
