Tick help Ok yall these tick are a killer this year, last year I used frontline on Callie didnt work still got a lot of ticks on her so we switched to Advantix and that seemed to work but now it seems to only keep the ticks off for the first week after the treatment and does not a thing for the 3 weeks after until the next treatment. I have looked at yard sprays and even the ones petsmart had said no good for humans and animals so what am I supposed to do now? I really need some help here I know shes not enjoying being bitten by ticks and I just hate hearing her wine and in pain when some have biten her so deep nothing makes them lossen up. |
Frontline Hi, you are right the ticks are awful this year! Have you tried searching recent threads? There are alot of tick threads in this section, as well as the Health section. Those little critters are plaguing us all! By the way, Frontline is designed to kill ticks after they have bitten, but before they inject their harmful toxins. It is not designed to keep ticks off your dog. Finding ticks on your doggy does not mean Frontline is not working :-) But if you want to keep ticks off your dog completely, the old threads will have some suggestions. |
My Mom bought something that you spread in your yard. She bought it from Smith and Foster. I'm not sure if it's a spray for granules and, it's not supposed to harm humans or animals. |
Lodon01 is right. I've still occassionally found a couple ticks on my girls even after applying frontline, however, they are dead. It's just that they get stuck on their hair so it's hard for them to fall off after they die. I usually give them a good brushing at the foyer or on the porch right when it's time to go in. You may want to try that. Are you noticing whether they are still alive or dead after you apply? If alive, you may want to consult your vet & let them apply the treatment next time to see if that helps. Good Luck. They have been awful out here these year!! |
I have to agree, the ticks for awful this year. |
