Question--shot reaction My puppy got his second round of shots--no lepto. I gave him the prescribed dosage of children's benedryl when we got home. He is totally itchy and has little bumps in his ears. My vet is now closed. Can I rub cortizone cream on the bumps or is that a no no. How long till I can give him another dose of benedryl? I don't want to over medicate him. |
When I had mine vaccinated my vet told me every 5 to 6 hrs. Even though your vet is closed do they have an emergency number so they will call you back? I don't know about the cordizone. He may rub it with his paws and lick it. It could make him sick. |
If you feel that his reaction is serious or starts to get worse you should take him to the ER vet or at least call them. When my dog has a reaction sometimes the benadryl doesn't calm it down and she ends up having to go get a steroid injection. |
It's been about 4 hours since I gave benadryl. The itchies seem to have calmed down. Ears are no longer red--only one bump left. |
Thats a good sign. Mine had to have benedrayl and a steriod shot because his face was swelling. |
