dentabones? Has anybody ever had a problem with Denatabones? My vet said to use them for Parker, So I gave him half a small one tonight. Which he liked but as soon as he got it all down, it came right back up, so gross. I think its cuz it was something new and he gobbled it down WAY too fast. But now I don't know whether to give it to him again some time. |
I'm not nuts about that kind of stuff. I had a greenie and let Kacee (known to have an iron stomach but who is teething right now) have it for awhile. She threw it up. I might try them after she's older one more time. I would wait about a week and let him try it again, but don't let him eat the whole thing - just about half. If that doesn't work, I wouldn't give them anymore... |
Yeah...yorkies are just different from most breeds and their digestive tracts cannot handle a lot of different things. I also stay away from thngs like that. I do give bully sticks though. |
I think bully sticks are good, because pieces don't break off. I like the greenies, too, but mine are grown up and they just eat them right up. I give them a piece of one every nite before bed. I take a small one and cut it in half (not an easy thing to do), and give them half each. I don't like to give them a whole greenie because they do eat them completely. And they have green stools if they eat a whole one. |
And, I forgot to mention, that once when I gave them dentabones they ate it all up and their stools were filled with it. And little pieces all over the house. So, no dentabones for them. But, as someone else said, they are all different. Mine are very aggressive chewers. Hmmmm, that's how we gave Chewy her name. When she was little, she chewed everything in sight, as most of them do. lol |
Have you tried "Greenies" they don't have any animal product in them and my Leah loves them as the name suggest they are green and look like a cross between a tooth brush and a denta bone. :) They also make "greenie" pieces. Which are tiny - just the right size! |
I had this problem with Yoda when he was younger. It seemed like anything that I gave him for a chew treat ( be it denta bone, denta stick or greenie) he would get sick from it. He does not do it now, so I think maybe his tummy was just too sensitive. He was 6 mo. old when I first started giving them to him and now he is 7 mo. :) |
thanks for the suggestions guys! I Have tried the teenie greenies and he has been okay with them, but I just figured I'd try the Dentabones since the vet had suggested them. I think I'll hold off on trying them again till he's a bit older. What are "bully sticks"? and where can I get them? |
