Stinky Ears!! Yuck! Lola has been on doxycycline a month now for Lyme's Disease. We only have a few days left. Her ears now stink! I mean nasty! Could the medicine have given hear a yeast infection? Can I give her acidophillus? I gave her the summer cut today. She's so dang cute but SHE STINKS  Thanks in advance. |
Yes the anti botic can cause a yeast infection. |
Yes it could have. She will need something to clear it up, preferrably from the vet. |
Her ears aren't red. She's not itching them. I cleaned them and didnt get any discharge at all but she was extra sensitive of her left ear. Anything I can do or do I need to call the vet? |
Are you sure it's her ears and not her eyes or mouth? How did you clean them? A cotton ball or a q-tip? |
Hi. She's probably due a recheck after she finishes up her meds anyway. Have them check her ear then, or call them to see if she can be seen a few days early. Best Wishes! |
There was a Vet on Martha Stewart this morning, he said to add a few drops of apple cider vinegar to several ounces of warm water and with an eye droper or qtip put a few drops in the ear. |
vet also has a malaseb flush you don't have to wash out you can clean them with |

Okay I just did the sniff test. It's definitely her left ear. I'll call the vet in the morning. |

In addition to what has been posted, yes you can give your dog acidophilus. I use a product that I buy it from herbal remedies online and I mix it with 1-2 tsp of plain greek yogurt and let them lick it whenever they are on medicine or whenever I want to supplement their diets. I store it in the fridge. Oh I buy it at Acidophilus for Dogs & Puppies, Dog Probiotic, Kosher & Lactose Free - 16 fl. oz. - Dynamic Health |
