Question about after being neutered This Friday will be 2 wks. since Rosco was neutered. The first couple of days he had diaheria from the anesethia. We had family come in for a couple of days and Rosco doesn't like being around people he doesn't know. It makes him nervous. He still has some diaheria. Is it still normal for his bowels to be a little runny since being neutered? |
The stress of the neuter and your family visiting could definitely give him diarrhea. How long ago has it been since your family left? |
They left yesterday:) |
I'm not a vet, but that seems a little long after his neuter to still have diarrhea. With you family just now leaving, I would still give it a couple days for it to clear up. There's different things you can feed to firm up stool (like pumpkin-just pumpkin not the pumpkin pie mix) or ground chicken and rice is supposed to ease upset tummies. |
Hm... I can't really give you an answer but Jackson never had diarrhea once after his neuter. |
It's just over a week, so he should be getting back to normal. But if you had guests that caused some stress, that could be the cause of the diarhea. I would keep a close eye on him, and if he isn't back to normal in a day or two, I would call the vet. |
As someone above said, feeding boiled chicken and plain rice for a couple of days usually helps too. |
Baron was neutered on Tuesday last week. He came out of the Anesthesia within 15 mins. of surgery. The Vet said he could get diarrhea from the Anesthesia But, He didn't. She said to feed him boiled white rice with our without boiled chicken in it or even canned pumpkin to firm up his loose stools. We wee in a Hotel in Arkansas and would've had to microwave everything, But, He did great. The only problem is that he won't let the incision alone and has to wear an E-Collar. He also had a small growth on 1 tesicle so he has 14 days of antibiotics to take and we finished the pain meds today. He's doing really well, even after all of my worrying...I would call your Vet and have him looked at. I had Baron's stool checked too to make sure he didn't have worms. Hope this helps and let us know how he is...:) |
Well I took Rosco to the vet today. They did a fecal on him. He has GI infection and inflammation. The stress caused it. He is taking antibotics. I am glad I took him. |
Im glad he will be ok! Hopefully no more surgeries to stress the little guy out! |
Thanks Afrye06. Now I am starting to get a little worried he hasn't pooped at all since the vet visit. They gave him something for his diaheria. I took him Tuesday evening. I take Bo my other dog to get neutered in the morning and I will ask vet about Rosco. I hate it when they don't feel good:( |
I know how you feel. I've had my new puppy, Mallie for less than two weeks and she's already dealt with pneumonia. We think she's over it for the most part now. It's so scary when you dont know whats going on with them! The poor babies can't even tell you what's wrong. Mallie isn't pooping too much either, which is worrying me also. Might have to call the vet before the weekend to see what they say. I hope Bo has an easier time with the neuter than Rosco did! |
Just checking in to see how Roscoe was doing. I'm glad that you took him to the Vets and they have him on meds. Glad to hear that he's on the road to recovery, Hugs to him and you,:getwellso:love-hug3 |
