Best flea meds??? I have my 3 Yorkies on K9 Advantix and I do not like it! I have found fleas on my babies:eek: and it's not the first time with this medication. I am on my last month of it and I want something that will work. I hate for them to be uncomfortable! One problem that I have is my Jeter is so tiny, he is 19 months old and is 2 and 1/2 pounds. Yumi Yasha is about 5 and Axl is almost 10( he goes back and forth between 9 1/2 to 10 1/2) so they hit the mark for a bunch of weight requirements. I worry about Jeter getting over medicated. Any suggestions? |
I'd go with Fronline Plus most likely but I'm not sure about the minimum weight off hand. |
Frontline has a spray bottle now and dosage is 1 spray per pound. I like this much better as I can control the dosage myself. |

Jackson's on Frontline Plus and he's had one tick but I got it off right away. |

This is the website for it FrontlineŽ - Kill 98-100% of fleas and ticks. My breeder recommended the spray to me last year so I bought an 8.5oz bottle for about $35 at my local feed/ag supply store. It should last my five yorkies several months so I think it's much more economical than the drops. So far I haven't needed to put on as much as the instructions say (I'm only using about 1/2 the dosage instructed) & I haven't seen any fleas or ticks yet. |
Comfortis We used Comfortis last fall for yorkie Molly and Mt. Curs Rocky and Rosie. It worked very well when the Frontline quit on us. It's about $13-$15 for a Molly-sized chewable. It starts to work in about 30 mins and lasts for 30 days. You do need to make sure and give it after a meal, 'cos it can make them a little sick at their stomach. I'm on my way to get another dose for Molly in just a few minutes. |
We use Comfortis too, the little Pom is almost 6 months and weighs about 3 lbs, and Tricksie is 8 lbs. They have never gotten an upset tummy. Where was an article in our newspaper this morning discussing flea prevention and they recommened this. |
