Puppy food vs. Adult food I have 3 puppies which I will breed if all goes well. The male is 9 months old and the girls are 6 months old. They current eat Nutro puppy food. After some reseach, I have decided to switch to California Natural. The problem is I am now torn between puppy and adult food. If I am correct I have read that too much protein is bad for Yorkies. I have not read why too much protein is bad just that it is. This is how the two compare.(Lamb & Rice) Puppy Adult 10% Moisture 9.5% Moisture 26% Protein 21% Protein 16% Fat 11% Fat 2.5% Fiber 4.5% Fiber Which would you choose and why??? Thanks for all your help Tauni |

I would go with the lower protein food. My vet said to keep my dogs on the puppy food untill they are at least 12 months and that I could keep them on even longer than that since they are such a small dog. |

I don;t want to start anything...but what you are looking for should not be only the percentage of this or that. Look for the igrendients and their quality, that's the main thing! In good foods, there is not much difference between puppy and adult food....meaning, your puppy will not be sick and weak because it is missing any nutrients or vitamins. What does chance between puppy and adult is the amount of food, puppies usually twice as much food as an adult dog that is the same size/weight |
