Eating Grass For the past couple of days I have noticed Franklin and Maggie eating grass like crazy. They have never done this in the past. They are fed Wellness CORE along with canned Wellness 95% on top of their kibble for dinner. They eat grass even right after they've eaten dinner so I can't imagine that they're hungry. I have been trying to figure it out.. do any of your dogs do this? Is it safe to let them continue doing so? |
funny thing. My dog is on Wellness Core too and she eats grass all the time! Although I try to discourage it, but she still eats a bit. It doesn't make her sick though. |
Jackson eats grass ALL the time! I think he just enjoys it lol. He eats Wellness Super5Mix and Before Grain. He ate grass before he was on Wellness at all though. |
Morgan eats wellness small breed and has eaten core in the past. She has never eaten grass before tho. usually when dogs eat grass its because their stomach is upset and they are trying to make themselves throw up. some dogs just eat grass because they like it tho :rolleyes: |

Pet Grass London started doing this a couple weeks ago. I wonder if it has something to do with fresh Spring grass? She did not do this during the winter. Only thing I worry about is any chemical treatments on the grass she eats. Most people around here use alot of lawn chemicals. The grocery stores and pet stores carry "Pet Grass". I might pick one up to keep indoors. That way London can still eat grass, and I have peace of mind that it is chemical-free. |
My girl just eats grass b/c she knows it annoys me HAHA! But really i havent figured out why, she eats all kinds of different foods so i dont think its that. i think she just likes it! |
Mine both eat grass, they love it. I have to pry Teddy away cause he will lay down and attach himself to the grass LOL he always does it but i try not to let him do it too much |
Interesting post! Dogs eat grass sometimes to quell nausea and it tastes good (maybe they need greens too? kinda like salad!) Interesting observation from this email most are feeding Wellness. Francie ate Wellness for years. She had a few epidsodes of throwing up. She'd also ate grass at our beachouse. Our Vet said that although Wellness is a very good brand, for some dogs it can be extremely rich and hard to digest sometimes. Thus the throwing up. You may want to look into that. I wouldn't reccommed the wet food at all. It contributed to dental problems with Francie. We now feed our puppy Butler Babydog 30 by Royal Canin and Fran is on Solid Gold which she gobbles up! Could be a link between the grass eating and the Wellness???? |
dogs dont eat grass because they have an upset stomach.. here is a link saying so :p Why do dogs eat grass? | DogTime Tucker has grazed it on occasion too. He has never thrown up after eating it. |
Dogs eat grass when their tummy hurts.. I dont let bella do it. I hear its not very good for them :( |
