I need help getting puppy to eat kibble Hi ~ I was hoping someone would have some advice for me. We just got a female Yorkie yesterday (17wks) and I am having trouble getting her to eat her kibble. We have a 5 year old male yorkie as well, who is a finicky eater. I have their bowls in the same area of the kitchen, when I put her kibble down she just smells it and walks away. This is the same food the breeder fed her in the exact same way and time. The breeder said she usually eats it immediately. What should I do? Maybe put her food and water in a different room. My other yorkie eats homemade food and she is interested in his, but I don't want her to eat that. The food she is on is awesome Great Life Grain and Potato Free kibble. I gave her some Dick Van Pattens Food roll today as a supplement because she wouldn't eat her kibble. Help :-) Thanks ~Patti |
scramble an egg in a cup and pour some over it... this helped mine eat and still does when they want to be finicky hope this helps :D:D |
You can also put some chicken broth in it or mix some canned food with it. Good luck! |

Not to speak for the other person but I interpreted that as a "scrambled" egg which in the South means cooked...my guess here is that either scrambled in a skillet or in a cup in the microwave. I think if the poster had meant raw, it would have said, "whisk an egg" or "stir an egg"... Scramble is a way of cooking an egg. Someone suggested that to me, too, when my new puppy wouldn't eat kibble. Unfortunately, ours didn't like egg either even after I added some shredded cheese to it! I will keep reading your thread with interest because I still am not satisfied with the "bite" of kibble my puppy eats every once in awhile! She does just what yours does and it's also the same food as the breeder used plus it's out for free feeding. None of the "tricks" I have read about on here are working with Taffy. |
Sorry, I tried to edit again but I had timed out. Evidently I thought a couple of posts were from the same person and now I notice they are not. I think I combined a couple of people's experiences/thoughts into my response. Sorry for any confusion. I'm off to take a nap which should improve my comprehension! I will be checking back though for anyone's suggestions to the OP. Thanks! |
She actually starting eating this morning. I fed her the kibble dry instead of wet and she ate all of it. They are all different. Thanks for all your input. |
