Anyone heard of Taste of the Wild. It's hard for me to get a hold of Innova in my area, but was told this is a close comparision to it.:confused:

You can see the foods there :) It's a 6 star dog food, very good! There's three different flavors, two of them are fairly high in protein and one is not. But there is no corn or by-products, which is great. The first three ingredients of the food is meat which is great.

The food that is lower in protein is rated a 5 star. I have a sample of that one.It's the Pacific stream formula. I should chose the lower protein one right?:confused:

Do they eat the pacific stream one?

No mine eat the bison/venison formula. I wouldn't hesitate to use the salmon one either though.

They literally paw at the bag when I bring one home.

Taste of the Wild is a great food no matter which flavor! Your yorkie will love it

My guys eat it and they love it.

I also feed PMR in the morning and evening. I have had no prob with them also having this kibble to snack on.

Well, I tried Coco with alittle of the Taste of the Wild this morning with her Iams. She LOVED it. Does anyone know how long I should mix the two before I can stop Iams all together? By the way, thanks for the info. on TOTW:animal36

you should mix a little bit more every day for at least a week, some say two weeks, until you are completely using TOTW

What are the smallest size bags of TOTW? (not any trial sized bag) But is it 5lbs, 6 lbs, etc? I remember seeing it at our local pet store and it was actually cheaper than Wellness, Merrick, etc but I can't remember how big the bag was.

I just ordered some Taste of the Wild (bison) a couple days ago. I really, really hope Meg eats it. She just started eating kibble 2 weeks ago after a playdate with another YT yorkie (and mom!), and now she is eating kibble all the time. The only problem is that she LOVES Royal Canin (not much meat and a lot of fillers). :rolleyes: I have been mixing Wellness Puppy and a small amount of Evo in with Royal Canin, but she picks right around the healthy food and goes for the not-as-healthy stuff. What the heck! I am hoping she will eat the TotW though.

My other 2 babies (not Yorkies) eat Taste of the Wild - they LOVE it! :D It is a fantastic food!!! :thumbup:

My furbabies loved it and it is a good product. The only problem was that it made super dark circles under my white Pommie's eyes. He had a very large amount of discharge from his eyes during the time he was on Taste of the Wild. Angel Eyes didn't even do any good. :( He's on Wellness Simple Food Solutions now and I don't have to even use Angel Eyes anymore.

First let me tell you all just in case you didnt know..:) TOTW is made at the diamond plant.. most people will not feed thier dog any food made at the diamond plant because of the huge recall they had in 2006 that involved several pets dying.
I fed my dogs TOTW for 3 months. I have a sheltie, beagle, toy poodle and at the time my yorkie poo was just 8 weeks old. That is the food that I switched him too when he came home from the breeders. They did good on it for awhile. I tried all 3 varities. My toy poodle took some convincing to eat it, she didnt gobble it down but she ate it. After about 2 months of them being on it, they all started to poop a ton, sometimes up tp 7 times a day, thier coats started to loose thier shine and my pups coat became really course to the touch, and he started itching agian, he also started having terrible gas that he would cry out in pain. My toy poodle who has always been around 4 pounds gained wieght, Tucker my pup gained 2.5 pounds in 6 weeks and my sheltie put on alot of weight also. When I took Tuck for his pup visit and shots my vet told me to get my dogs off it because she just didnt trust the high protien foods yet. It took me another couple of weeks to compeletly wean them all of it but once I did they all started doing better. Coats looked better, Tucker stopped itching and having gas issues and they all started pooping in the normal range, 2 to 3 times a day.
Do I think that its a good food.. yes, and I would still probably recommend it to others, it was way to high in protien for all of my dogs and not every food out there works for every dog. I can say that I wont ever put my dogs on something with that much protien again. I hope that you all continue to have good success with it..:)

TOTW has worked out great with my 3 dogs. We are using the salmon flavor at the moment and no problems at all. I would recommend this food in any flavor!

My guys love it, and I've seen nice sheen to their hair.

We just switched to TOTW last week. The feed store in our area stopped carrying Natures Variety:( So far so good, we are on the pacific stream formula and my 3 seem to really like it.

I have used the Bison TOTW for a long while now & it has been real good for the girls.
But, the last bag I bought, the food seemed lighter than usual in color. Have any of you noticed any changes in your TOTW food??
