Yorkie teeth As we all surely know that small dogs are prone to tartar on their teeth and sometimes no amount of brushing will help. Our last Yorkie lived to be 13 but the tartar on his teeth at around age 9 caused infections and then affected his heart and he had congestive heart failure. Now I lie Brady on my bed and can do a better job at brushing in the back and I also bought a liquid to spray on his teeth. I bought some real crunchy treats at the vet's made by the company that makes the doggie toothpaste. It was so sad seeing him with the heart problem and tracheal collapse. |
Have you tried Greenies? I give them to our dogs once a week. They love them, and they help clean the teeth. Also, we take our dogs in once a year for a teeth cleaning. I am so sorry to hear about your last baby. That had to have been a very terrible experience. |
Thanks for your thoughts- I gave Greenies to our last dog and the vet said they are difficult to digest. The same with rawhide. It was so sad seeing our Corky so sick during his final year but I stayed with him and held him when the vet gave him his final shot. He was 6 lbs. but as I held him he looked so tiny. My grandson, who was 12 at the time, took it as hard as I did and we both cried and cried for days. |
Mine dont like Greenies. Makes them sick. I try and brush every day. Its hard but can be done. The first one is easy the others run and hide.... |
Mine get 2 sprays of Petzlife Oral Spray in the mornings and then a greenie every night at bedtime. The spray isn't their favorite, but the will tolerate it. They LOOOOVE greenies! :) |
