Splitting up a tube of frontline? I know a few of you guys split the a tube of frontline, but how exactly do you figure out how much to give? I have two average size. I think both of them are at 5 or 6lbs Do I split one tube between them or should it be smaller? |
Good question...I'm interested in what others have to say about this myself. |
I wish I could help ya but my vet figures that out for me... |
I'd like to know this too! I've heard of buying Frontline for a 100+ pound dog and then splitting up the tube for our Yorkies, who obviously aren't 100 pounds. It makes it cheaper that way! However, I'm scared to do it because I'm awful at math, etc so I don't want to give the wrong dosage. |
Using the package for under 22 pounds...I split one tube between two dogs. |
i dont know how much this will help b/c i use advantage, but my vet wrote right on there for me that under 10lbs is 6 drops, 11+ is 15 drops. maybe just call your vet and ask? |

I just try and split it evenly. |
Why not just use Frontline spray? It's great for those of us with multiple pets. I use it on Lady and my two Siamese cats. You customize the dose by pump per pound so it's also great for super tiny ones. |
Wow, I've never even thought of splitting it up b/w the two... makes sense. I'm going to do this from now on. I always thought there was too much in those applicators and would just toss part of it. Of course I didn't have 2 back then! |

I have never had a problem with fleas either...it is still effective. |
i eye ball it and give half a tube every month. Right now i have sentinel that i got from work so i'm gonna try that this summer and see how it goes. its a pill that prevents against fleas, ticks, and heartworms. |
With the spray do you just on their necks or all over their body? My two play bite and lick each other all the time, so is it okay with the spray? Sentinel question too I am not really sure that I have fleas. I just have 2 bumps on my ankle and I have no idea what they could be from and my mind has convinced me that they got fleas from one of their walks. I was at my friend's family vet in MS and he said that there have been studies that say sentinel and the other one an (I) name?? don't work. He suggested iverhart max for my shih tzu and he was let me try one for a month because small dogs may have a reaction and he did fine (He is 12lbs) I was at my friends house and during the summer they had fleas really bad on all their dogs and I was worried about him getting them and he never had a flea on him although I did find 1 tick in those 3 months. Sorry long winded, but have you seen it work for your yorkies? I don't mind giving them two different meds as long as they are effective. |
I split one tube between our two. One is about 3lbs, the other 7. So I give our 3lb girl about 1/4 of the tube, and the 7lb male about 3/4 of the tube. |
