Calming/sleepy aid for dogs?
 
Is there anything, non-dangerous of course, to give a 13 pound yorkie to make him sleep better?? I know it sounds ridiculous but I posted a thread before about my situation w/ Jackson going to my dads house when we spend the night over and he just does not like to sleep!! He is SO concerned with the cats and other things!!

I would say just try to tire him out really good somehow. Maybe and extra long walk?

Been there, done that, lol. The one night he had had three 20 minute long walks, ran outside ALL day literally from 10am-5pm basically, walked around on the leash all day with me doing outside stuff, I've tried everything. He just sits by my bedroom door all night staring at it. I really think he's that concerned about the cats! He just hardly sleeps. I tried holding a leash on him in my bed at night but I would find him tugging every 35mins-1 hour. Got no sleep. I tried the crate training thing, he kept me up all night, I never once gave into him and took him out... I would just prefer not to do the crate thing again as he's totally fine at my regular house and sleeps from 10pm-7:30 or 8am totally fine on my bed! And my dad's house shouldn't even be a "strange place" because he's been coming here 2 or more nights out of the week since I got him at 9 weeks old, cats have been here since then too. It's the weirdest thing! Heres my thread on it:

Wow he sounds like the bionic dog! LOL When Laya was younger she was very hyper and I used rescue remedy with some success. Hopefully others will have some ideas for you.

Well that's the thing.. he's actually not really hyper and has always been very laid back, non-hyper personality. He will sleep here during the day and crash on the couch or on the floor so I've resorted to sleeping downstairs on the couch :rolleyes: I think his thing is.. he doesn't want to miss anything. He loves my dad, my little brother and their dog and my dad and his girlfriends bedroom is actually downstairs, off of the living room, and my bedroom I stay in is upstairs. So I think between the cats making noise at night and thinking he's missing something, he gets like that. And I'd really love to sleep in my bed again and not the couch! LOL.

Thanks for the advice on the Rescue remedy, i'll have to try it out!

I'm also hoping with him getting neutered 4 days ago that he will eventually maybe chill with the night-time thing and just sleep like he normally does!!
