Jacks kneecaps are popping out! Tonight we were told that Jacks has very bad knee caps that pop out and arthritis. We were at the emergency vet (because he has a fungus infcetion on his poor head and I was worried) so she said that was something our reg vet had to look at. What can we do about it until Monday? He has never looked to be in any pain when they pop out but of course I'm freaking out like any other yorkie mama. She wouldn't tell us any prevention or treatment tips. :( Is there anything I can do for now? My poor baby has a fungus infection and his knees pop out. He's a wreck :( |
He has luxating patellas. It's very common in Yorkies and other toy breed dogs. Don't panic. It can wait until Monday to see your vet. If he's got arthritis, he's had them for awhile. Your vet will grade them from 1-4 according to severity. 3 and 4 are the worst and will require surgery. Here is some information for you: Luxating Patella: A Knee Problem in Dogs |
