How long after getting neutered before.... you can let them resume normal activities? My vet told me 2 weeks until the stiches come out. It has been 8 days and the poor puppy just wants to play with our other dog. We were told no, running, jumping, playing with another pet, no pen, basically no nothing. I dont want him to pop his stiches but all he wants to do is run and play. I hate trying to keep him restricted in the house and yard, I feel like a bad mommy always telling him no. So how long after your dog was neutered did you let him run around and play? |

I was told to keep Hot Rod quiet for 10 days. Well about day 4 he was jumping on and off the couch! Yikes! I did everything I could to make sure he would do that but he got passed a few times but all was well, thank goodness. |

Tucker didnt have visable stitches with his surgery but by the second day he was running around. I had to kennel him alot during that 10 day period because he just wouldnt stop. He's like the energizer bunny. :) |
Teddi just got neutered recently and he was up the next day as if nothing happened! I had to keep an extra eye on him but he got away sometimes because he was so used to it (I really should train him not to jump on furniture without being invited first...). I checked his surgery site every day just in case, but it seems like he's doing ok! |

I had the same trouble with Sophie. She had stitches inside and outside. The outside ones were loose and looked more like a tressed up turkey :p Anyway, Vet said try to keep her restricted for 1-2 weeks. Of course, the first two days she was a bit out of it and sore. But by day 3 she was wrestling with our cat. The cat will go submissive on her and lay on his back and I would have to break it up because I was afraid he'd do a "bunny kick" with his back legs and rip the stitches out. The Vet pretty much said do the best you can to keep her calm but that she will also know her limitations. She may try and jump and it will hurt her tummy muscles and stop. Other than trying to restrict the cat wrestling matches and steps, I let her do her own thing. She turned out just fine. But alway, always, always keep an eye out. |
