ribs larger on one side Hey YT'ers my little girl is almost 6 months and has what looks like her ribs are slightly larger and higher up than the other side.... Has anyone here ever seen this or had a pup/dog like that? What was it? If it is just a deformity no problem, but could a tumor be pushing it up or out like that? Mama is a worry wort. :p Thing is I don't have the money right now to take her in just cause I am concerned. BUT I don't want to neglect a real serious issue like a tumor. Cause if it is, it is best to treat it early!!! Also this puppy occasionally has jelly like or loose stools. No blood. She was on pancor and Albon for coccidia till it was all gone. That was about 2 months ago. I trust the good advise I read here. |
can you take a picture standing above her so that we can see the difference in her two sides? when did you notice this? is she acting fine otherwise? |
You can't see it too well until till she is wet. I'll try though and we'll see how it turns out. I noticed it a few baths back so maybe a month now. I would not say it has changed any though since finding it. Also after the Dr gave her her last round of shots she developed a large long lump on her side the very next day, but in about 5-7 days that went away. I think that is what got me to checking her sides. I'll be back ASAP with a picture. |
This is the best one. I could get. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...e_DSC_6813.jpg She is leaning out so it looks even bigger but it is not that big or noticeable...like I said you would not even notice unless she was wet. PS (warning) I got the new larger 8gb "SD card" for my Nikon but Vista wont recognize it. No updates yet either that I found. I had to use the USB plug in on my camera. Oh the work LOL! |
i don't know what that could be. it could be a deformity or it could be nothing. hard to say without putting my hands on it or seeing it. I find it hard to believe that it could be a tumor on such a young pup especially if she is healthy otherwise. is it hard or soft? can you grab it with your fingers? is it movable? or does it just seem like an extension of her body? |
Hi kalina, Thanks for your help! I appreciate it. is it hard, soft, movable? Nope just her side seems to stick out and higher than the other. I have gently felt around and I do feel things just not sure...to me I think those are normal body parts I feel. does it just seem like an extension of her body? yes And she has no discomfort either....plays well...eats really well...but she is somewhat of a lazy and grumpy puppy meaning she don't play as often as my oldest one did and she is a bit grouchy with the other female, but not the male. My male is always always ready to play. LOL! :animal36 After posting about the lump....I read on here where other pups got that lump after shot were given. So I think it is unreleated. She does have a picky stomch that is for sure. Thanks!! |
I'd watch it and if it changes in anyway go to the vet. its hard to say what it might be. she might just be a lumpy puppy LOL has she always been moody like you said or has the lazy/grumpiness just started when you noticed the bump on her side? if these two things are related then i'd go to teh vet sooner rather then later. it may be nothing and he may not charge you for the quick visit. |
She has always been grumpy and likes to lay around! I told the vet about it but she said it was the worms and the coccidia making her feel bad, she said she should get better after, so I'd say YES she is more active since the worming. I honestly think she maybe a lazy pup if there is such a Yorkie well I got one! LOL |

kalina thanks I agree too but right now I just can't, unless they will let me charge. Thing is last time I had part of the money and it was just a small amount I didn't have at the time of leaving. I paid it ASAP. So I owe nothing now. I guess I should just call and ask. Thanks kalina I appreciate your input! I hope you have a fun weekend coming up! |

My Brandi was born with displaced ribs. Not sure if it could be the same thing or not. On her, it just seems like her bones are "sticking out" where they don't belong. Vet said it was nothing to worry about, she can live a completely normal life. I started this thread about it when I found out ... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...aced-ribs.html |
Christmas I do know when she goes to pp she really can spread her legs LOL like I never seen before. I'll mention that when we go see the Dr again. Thanks! |
