Fleas I have been waiting for my babies to get big enough for Flea prevention. The Advantage Multi I have say they have to be 3 pounds so we are almost there, Arizona was 2.6 and Ace was 2.06 at the vet last week. They told me to wait about a week before i apply it and its been that but i dont think they are 3lbs yet, especially Ace. I know they have a few fleas on them and I dont want it to get worse. I think they are even too small for regular flea shampoo. Petsmart doesnt start till 6 months. I feel horrible when i see them scratching every once in a while. I figured that they would get some fleas since i couldnt treat them but like i said i dont want it to get out of control. Any ideas anyone? Thanks! |
I ordered some Best Yet from the Cedarcide store. Its suppose to kill fleas and ticks. It says it safe to use on puppies and even children. It is suppose to arrive tomorrow. There are no chemicals in it. I will let you know how it works. |
i'd take care of the flea problem right away. fleas on puppies are not good. if untreated the puppies can become anemic and get very sick. why didn't your vet give you frontline plus? this can be used on any weight dog as long as its over 8 weeks old. Just don't use the whole tube. I use half on my 4lb yorkie. you can also wash your puppies to get rid of the fleas. you can use regular shampoo or dawn dish soap. do not wet the puppies first. water makes the fleas react before the soap can kill them. when you wet the dog before adding the shampoo the flea will kinda form a bubble around its head to protect itself. if you put the shampoo directly on the dog first you'll have a better chance of killing the fleas. you can use the shampoo straight or get a bottle and dilute the shampoo first then add this directly to the dog. there is never just one or two fleas. if they've had some fleas for a while you might have them around your house too. while you are washing the puppies, take all their beds and blankets and throw them in the wash. after the bath put the pups in their crate and then vacuum the hell out of the house (floors, beds, couches, etc). |

I'd like to know how the Cedarcide works also. It sounds like a miracle cure. Would you please PM me with your opinion on how it works for you? Thank you! |
Great Info! Thanks!! LOL....i didnt mean to imply that they had only one or two fleas......i just meant that the infestation was not a bad one (since there can be a degree of severity). Ive noticed the scratching for about a couple of weeks now. I bathe then one a week (should it be more?) and launder their things once a week also. We dont have carpet so thats a plus but i agree that maybe our couches will need attn since they have some fleas. Thanks for the info on the fleas and the shampoo before water, i wll try that. (wow I cant believe they form a bubble on thier head those pesky pest). Oh and yes, please let me know how the all natural products work. Thank you everyone for your great info!!! :) |
