Need help with car sickness I have to travel this weekend for a trip to Beaumont. I have to bring my new baby she is 12 weeks old and weighs 1.9 lbs. She gets so carsick. I cannot board her, my vet said she too small and too young. It would not be a good idea. It's a 2 hour drive there and 2 back. Anything I can do to make it easier for her? |
I've heard ginger snaps help the tummy issues. They have different natural calming medicines you can buy at Petsmart, too. What does she ride in.. a crate, etc? Jackson got car sick when he was young (9-12 weeks old) but he had been in his crate. Once I let him ride where he could see/sniff out the window.. he's been absolutely fine! They have cute doggie car seats too! |

So I'm not sure what to do.... |

Your pups still young and I think it also comes with age. Keep them used to the car. Take them for short rides every single day to get them used to the feeling. Make sure everytime they go into the car, they are going somewhere FUN and somewhere good. So they will learn car = fun! |
Pebbles hyperventilates when she rides. she shakes uncontrollably & she's 16 mths. old. My vet said to try Dramamine & give her 1/2 the dose of a small child if its a true motion sickness it should help. |
For whatever reasons, Benadryl helps dogs w/ car sickness and nausea and vertigo. So, using childrens benadryl would be a safe med that would be good to try. |

I was thinking about just playing with her for about an hour before we leave to wear her out so she would sleep. |
