Jackson's getting neutered tomorrow! Jackson's getting neutered tomorrow! Ah, I'm nervous! I'm trying to act really calm and cool though because I'm sure he will be fine. And I don't want him to feel my vibes but I've been pretty good tonight. I will be very worried while he is in surgery though! Just needed to post... Also, had a question... is there anything I should put him in to make sure he doesn't lick the stitches? I know I could ask the vet tomorrow but just wanted to see on here. I don't want him wearing one of those cones, I don't even know if they still give those anymore. What should I be prepared for? |
I was so nervous when Coco was fixed. They did give her a cone :0( I don't think the surgery is as complex on a male though. I'm not sure he will even have noticable stiches. I am just comparing to my male cat though. Don't worry too much. He will be fine :) |
I bet you are very nervous, You are such a great and caring MOM. Everything will be fine. I just know it.... |

No worries!! He will be just fine!!! For extra caution, I'll say some prayers!! Let us know how he does!! We'll be thinking of both of you! |
Good Luck Jackson! I'm sure he'll do fine and be home before you know it. |
Good luck Jackson! he's gonna do great i know most people don't like cones but you need to remember that is the human's issue, not the dogs. teh dog is just like "wtf is on my head" for like a hot minute then sees a toy and forgets all about it. you can try putting little boys underwear on him tho, backwards to the tail goes through the hole thing, you know. lol |
Good idea with the boy underwear. My Coco didn't even bother the stitches. I was lucky. Maybe you will be lucky also. Just wait and see how he does. He will be very groggy for the rest of the day tomorrow, but by the next morning he should be his old self. Don't try to force water or food on him though. He might be a little nauseus from the anesthesia. I gave my Coco some water on a tea spoon. Just to wet his whistle. Coco, Pebbles and Trixie are sending a great big get better soon hug. I will keep ypur little boy in my prayers. I'm sure he will do fine...you not so much!! I know I was a nervous wreck. I must have called the vet 3 times. I just wanted to know when he was out of surgery and in recovery. :ghug:We are thinking of you little Jackson. |
I'll have you and Jackson in my thoughts for tomorrow. He's going to do just fine!! Put a onsie on him backwards so that the snaps are on his back and his tail can stick out between the snaps.Just do it for a few days and if he doesn't try to lick @ the sutures then take it off. Hugs and Prayers for you both,:thinking::hands::hands::goodluck Let us know how he does...:) |
Max is getting neurtered on Friday, he's almost 13 lbs and he is 5 months. I am a little scared to, only as far as care. He is a fairly active little boy, so if any one can tell me exactly how to handle him would be great. From what I've read I know he'll be fine...looks like we're in the same boat Brister. |
He will do fine! Couver was fixed a few weeks ago, and he did great! He will be groggy for the day of the surgery, and most likely be back to himself by the next! :D Couver acted like nothing had changed the next day. He did try to lick his stitches a couple times, but we just corrected him... and he was fine! He didn't need a cone or panties, so we were lucky. Good luck Jackson!! :D |
Good luck Jackson! :D I feel your worry hun....will send out lots of positive thoughts and good vibes to you both. :) xxx xxx |
I'll be saying prayers for Jackson to feel better soon. :) |
Aww, Jackson. I'm saying prayers you'll be feeling better soon (and that you won't have to wear that cone)! |
We're adding our prayers for a easy surgery and quick recovery. Hot Rod really didn't bother his stitches much. He was out of it for about 3 days then he was rearing to go! lol. Good luck and don't worry, he'll be just fine. :) |
Thanks for the comfort, guys! He's there right now and he seemed really happy... his tail wagging with all the other dogs there, lol. Poor little fella had no idea what he was in for! I dropped him off around 8:15am an they said he will probably be ready by one or two! Until then... I will be a nervous wreck. |
UPDATE - I picked Jackson up around 1:30 today and he was so excited to see me! When the vet brought him out, his whole little body starting squirming and shaking trying to get to me. The car ride home, he was a little out of it but he seemed pretty good, he was still trying to sniff out the window and he wanted to be on my lap, so I let him. Now he's definitely out of it... just laying on the floor, really groggy. He doesn't know what he wants, he keeps getting up and moving from one place to the other! Poor little guy |
Oh Yeaaaaaaaaaah.......glad to hear he's out and home w/mama...he's probably just confused at feeling a little uncomfortable, so he's moving about, a bit, trying to figure it out...sounds like you guys are home free...He'll probably be his old self in 48 hrs...Thanks for letting us know about your little guy... I think he's mad at me! lol. Everytime I try to give him love, he allows it for a bit and then walks away and goes under my bed, lol I think his mouth is what is bugging him the most, he had 4 teeth pulled |
Poor guy!! He must be in pain. But I'm very glad to hear everything went well!!! |
Yeahhh Jackson!! Glad to hear everything with A OK!! Peanut was like that too, he kept moving around, couldnt find a spot to lay, didnt know what he wanted, first he wanted to be alone then he wanted to be with me  just let him be and when you can give him love :D He will be feeling good in no time!!:D |

Hows Mr.Jackson doing today? |
My vet told me it was OK for Bella to lick it, b/c that was her way of cleaning it, but she did have in inside stiches, so there was nothing for her to pull out. He said as long as she wasn't biting at it, it was ok! I was very worried too! I took off and cried all day. When she got home she was very sleepy, but she woke me up at midnight jumping up and down on her back legs ready to play!!! Little monster!!! After that was FINE. They did send me home with 3 days of Metacam, which is a non-drowsy pain medication. Good luck and keep us informed!! |
Hey! He is doing much better! Still pretty tired but that may be from the pain meds? The pain meds they gave him are called Novox, anyone heard of it? He's been walking around really good, I brought him out on the leash a few times today to go potty and he actually dug up an old bone and picked it up! lol. He brought it inside and started chewing on it so obviously his teeth must be feeling better! He was loving being outside, even if only for a little bit. He hates being cooped up in the house. He's sleeping right now! But he's doing much better already :) I am SO glad that is over with! |

He's got 5 days of pain meds but I have a feeling I won't have to give them for 5 days. |
I am so glad he is doing so well! These little guys just bounce right back, huh!?! |
