No teeth, organic food? Sammy has no teeth AND a hole in the bony structure in his upper jaw (after 2 surgeries, i'm leaving it as is!). the hole is due to the *%&* puppy mill jerks who let his teeth rot and drop out of his head, then infection ate through the bone. So, he has to have food that is very soft, and not all canned foods are! (if he eats something firm/hard, it can get lodged in the hole and can become infected=more surgery). I really want to do organic, free-range, if possible! Dog whisperer food works, and he can eat crumbled bil jac treats, but I want to know if we're missing better possibilities? He doesn't like wellness, he is about 9 years old, and though he has put on over a pound (he's up to 5 lbs now), he is still underweight. and thank you, YT folks! Everyone here is so nice! |
Aw, you are an angel - and so is he :)! Precious little man. So, are you looking for more canned recommendations or are you wanting to cook for him? If you can find a canned that works, one thing you could do is add some homecooked meat/food into his meals. But, you want to keep the additions below 10-15% of the overall diet, or else you push the supplement ratios (in the already AAFCO balance dog food) out of balance, which would not be good. In the past, I think if you called Evangers for a canned food sample, they sent you a whole case. :) |
I like Castor and Pollux Organix it's free range and all natural. and my 14 year old seems to really enjoy it. |
what is the consistency of their canned food? You have no idea how many cans i have opened, and they have chunks of meat swimming in a gravy, or the carrots are firm, etc... |

i'll give them both a try. not that i have a problem with his current food, but i'd like to find something that would be considered a treat, to try to put some weight on him. thank you! |
