Carsick?? Guinness loves rides and it's the only time he's on his best behavior and not bouncing all over the place. He will bark his head off though. Zoe starts throwing up a block from home. It makes me so sad because I want to take her places too and travel, etc. But I don't want to dope her up all the time, either. Do you have carsickness remedies that have worked for you and are safe??! |
When I posted a similar question, people recommended ginger cookies. They also recommended bonine which is non-drowsy. Chase had a lot of car rides over the weekend and he barked his head off, but didn't throw up. Maybe you can take them for a long walk or give them lots of exercise beforehand. I noticed after the hike and playtime at a dog park, he just dozed off in my lap . |
Those are good ideas, thanks :) |
How old is your dog? My dog was throwing up when he was a puppy after car rides. Even very short rides. I started monitoring his food intake before a car ride (no food at least 2 hours before a trip) and keeping the trips as short as possible, keeping off of bumpy roads and frequent stops. I also moved his car seat to the front (my car has a weight sensitive auto shut off air bag). As he got older I started taking him on longer car rides. He still gets sick when I put him in his carrier but he's 11 months old now and absolutely fine in the car. I still monitor his food before a trip and keep him in the front when possible. |
I have heard giner snap cookies before a car ride, the ginger is good to the tummy |
