infected stitch? My Abbey was fixed and stitches removed the 31st...the Vet couldnt get the stitch with knot and said to keep eye on it. now we go to Vet today as the incision overnight is swollen and red? My question..think they'll have to cut her? |
No idea. :( It is possible if they can't get it out. |
If they have to cut her you have the wrong vet! Could they not get it out bacause she was too swollen to begin with? If it is infected, hopefully they will take care of that, let the swelling go down then cut the stitch. Let us know! |
I highly doubt that they will have to surgically remove a stitch. Sometimes when the stitch is tied too tightly it is hard to remove and the skin will start to grow over the area. When that happens, the body will start to reject the foreign body (suture) and injection will occur which in turn starts to force the offending object from the body. I would guess that although uncomfortable your vet will be able to more readily remove it today. Poor baby :( |
abbey thank you all!! 2 wks ago the Vet said where she tied the knot..she couldnt get to it to snip..but now its swollen. she doesnt seem to be in pain?? we go in an hour..so Ill post later. thanks again:animal-pa |
Depends on scar tissue etcetera. It may not be infected - the 4 signs of infection are redness, pain, heat, and swelling. It may just be irritated from the vet trying to get at it. Keep us posted! |
