One last baby tooth, how to get it out!?
 

Snickers has 1 last baby canine in. It's in pretty good, not wiggly yet but it needs out b/c his breathe is getting funk again like when his teething was crazy.

What can I get him to help loosen it up and get it out?

I don't wanna put him under just for 1 tooth (plus it's $$$), all the others fell out when he was about 7 months and his canines were last to fall out. Just 1 more left. I don't want to give him rawhide for obvious reasons but so many friends have told me that will be the thing to get it out. A bully stick (GROSSSSSS!!!!!)????? He is CONSTANTELY chewing on his orka and rubber nylabone. I think it's itching to come out, but wanna help it along.....SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!!!!????

The smell from his mouth is the same funk from when he was teething so I don't think the last tooth is infected.......:confused:

I'd give him a bully stick....and play lots of tug of war.

If thats my last case scenario....I just might...ugh!

I would play tug if war and wiggle it alot. My vet was able to pull a loose baby tooth out of one of my girls without anesthesia. Also I can't remember which one it was but one of mine lost 2 baby teeth after they were a year old.

miss buffey did not lose her last two baby teeth until she was 15 months old!!!! within 24 hours both had fallen out and her teeth are in great condition per my vet. i was shocked they came out on their own. i was expecting to have to have them pulled. there is hope!!!! :)

Wow...ok, so I have some time I guess, Snick is only 9 months and I guess still at the age to go through more teething.....his breathe is just not so sweet right now....ick:cool:

Oh, good, I have hope! Jackson has 2 rows of teeth just for these bottom 2 teeth - think they're his canines. So, he's only got 2 baby teeth left that I can see (he doesn't like me in his mouth!) But he's 6 months old and I'm hoping he won't have to get them pulled.

My Buddy still has one canine also..and he is now 8 months. We've been playing a lot of tug of war, and letting him chew on his bully stick (his favorite) and a dental nylabone. I agree with you in not wanting to spend the $ just to put Snickers under for 1 tooth...I feel the same about Buddy. Hopefully Buddy's tooth will fall out by the time he has to go in for his next rabies shot in January. The vet said that he would pull it out then if is hasn't already fallen out...but I don't like the idea of having my 3.5 lb yorkie go under. Just try a lot of tug of war...it helped get the one canine out for Buddy...now we are working on the other one. :D

Your baby probably has bad breath now from teething, the blood, along with food in loose tooth pockets can leave a funky smell. I hope you can get use to the idea of bully sticks. As dogs grow older tartar develops and this can lead to pockets around the tooth as well, and eventually loose adult teeth, again, creating a bad smell, and many health problems. Bully sticks are really great at keeping teeth scrapes clean. I use Petzlife gel that is said to soften tartar, and I think the bully sticks help scrape it off. Merrick bully sticks are specially dried using no preservatives, and no expiration dates, I don't think they have too bad of an odor. So for you dogs future dental health, I hope you get use to the idea of bully sticks. The reason they are so popular is because besides being great for the teeth, they are one of the few chew sticks that are 100% digestible, and this is so important for a small dog. Rope toys and tug of war have been reported successful at loosening baby teeth, but many people said the fell out around a year. I also recommend tooth brushing with a tooth paste formulated for dogs, yorkies need help keeping their teeth healthy.

Try the braided bullys from Westbrookdogs.com or the 6" bullys from Merrick. Neither smell and are SO GOOD for the yorkie problem-prone teeth and gums.

I totally agree just get the bullies that are lighter in color they tend to smell a little less;) Copper also lost his last 2 teeth after a year. My little Maddie is aboutn 6 months and her teeth are comming out nicely, I really do think that part of it has to do with letting her chew on her bully at night before bed.
