Peekaboo testicles?? I am completely weirded out! I've been told that Thor was neutered. His new vet said she was surprised that he was noted simply as an "M" (male) on his documents, rather "CM" (castrated male). His equipment looks like that of a male neutered long ago - penis, no testicles. And he has the little scar on his penis from neutering. The vet felt his abdomen and said she didn't feel any undescended testicles. Anyway, Thor rolled over for his belly rub this morning, and there were two testicles, plain as day!! I have never seen them before. Then, a minute later, they were gone again. I'd never really noticed before, but I guess sometimes Thor's penis "pouch" or whatever almost recedes into his body, and sometimes the outline is very clear. Can males flex this area or something?? Was Thor just extra flexed this morning? I'm 99% sure Thor has been neutered, but someone here must know more about this. |
Did it look like the testicles were up by his penis? |
Wow. I have no idea what's going on. I'll be curious to see what others say. |
this kinda sounds like it is the knot that when dogs mate will cause them to lock. Sometimes when excited it will show up and when relaxed it dosen't. His testicles if he had any would be a the very base of the penis not up where you could easily see them. If any others out there have a better explaination please post. I am not a breeder just an owner with 32yrs of owning these fantastic babies.....good luck, Sharon, PIXI & SPIKE |
There are glands located at the base of a dog's penis. These expand and that's what you see now. Separate entirely from his testicles. |

The purpose of the gland is to assist during mating while tying. |
Whew, okay. Ha ha, I guess I don't really know what a male dog's full equipment looked like. These little balls appeared on either side of his penis, sort of in between his hips. They did show up in an entirely different place from where my male cat's testes were. I'm sort of confused. Does that mean a male dog has four little balls? That can't be right. Or the testicles aren't in the sacs? I've seen a lot of breeders referring to the "tie". What does this mean? |
It sounds like his bulbis gladis: Male dogs and their swollen/broken equipment |

When dogs mate and the male's penis is inserted inside her...there is a period where they can not seperate. They are "tied" together. That is a tie. |
Thanks! It all goes to show how much I love Thor. As horrified as I was, I thought they were the cutest little balls I'd ever seen. I even think he's cute when he poops. I just double checked with his owner and she said that she had him neutered. And thus ends the mysterious case of the peekaboo testicles. |

I have a Peekapoo!! My guy Harley was neutered on 3/27/09. When I got him from the breeder they told my it was undescended testicle. He had a hard time finding it ,and 3 incisions later finally found it. Is this a normal trate in them. It worked out,but his poor belly.:( |
