how often does your yorkie eat? How often does your yorkie eat? I work quite a bit so I leave food/water out all the time for my yorkie. When I come home, seems like she hasn't touched the food one bit and sometimes she'll nibble like 1/4 of what I put in her bowl at night. I feed her dry innova. Sometimes in the morning when we wake up she'll be throwing up or just gaging? I've read a post here once about how yorkies will gag sometimes in the morning because they have an empty stomach. Is it normal for my yorkie to only eat this much only? Should I be concern since she use to eat a bit more? |

Just a couple of questions. How old is your yorkie? How much does she weigh curently? Does she have disease issues to factor in? |

my yorkie just turned 1 on the 23rd of march. she doesn't have any disease (that i know of) and she's about 4 lbs. |

I work and leave food out all day too but Baxter never eats any of it while I'm gone. He will eat a little in the morning when I put about 10 pieces of kibble on his pillow. (Yes he is spoiled.) And then at night he will eat what I put in his kong while I take a bath. Then about 2 hours later he will actually go eat out of the bowl himself. He is a very strange eater. My wonderful bro-in-law actually had to feed him by hand when he babysat for me for a while when I was out of town. |

I'm almost sure Apple doesn't eat, while I'm at work...she eats first thing in the morning, when we start our day (about 5:30 or 6), then she eats again, about 5:30 or 6, when I get home from work...She's 5 months old and weighs 3 lbs. 6 ounces... Love, Maggie & Apple:aimeeyork xoxox |

sammy eats 2x's a day, once in the morning and then at dinner time. but he also eats snacks all day, such as plain greek yogurt, blueberries, apples , then he gets his dog treat bones. he would eat every minute of the day and night if i let him. he seems to be always hungry ! |

Bella use to eat once in the morning and once before bed time and now she only eats at night. Today I noticed she only ate a little corner of her food. I called the vet and she's going in today at 4pm. I'm also worried because I think she might have leather ears because she doesn't have hair on the bridge of her nose or the back of her ears & has always been like this since I had her. We'll see what the vet says. |

I have always free fed. Prissy will usually only eat when she goes to bed (her crate) at night and Jasmine eats a litte here and there through out the day. I keep their food in each of their crates along with their water. Jasmine has a water bottle (like a big hamster water bottle) that she loves and Prissy uses a water bowl. They are as different as day and night until it comes to liver treats.........they will come running for liver treats no matter what time of the day! |

Maddie has never ate enough for me to free feed. I tried b/c I work during the day. She is picky and once food had laid out all day, she would not dare touch it. Maybe it gets stale??? Now, she eat 1/3 cup in am and I feed her 1/3 cup in evening. She is always ready to eat. I will give her other things such as carrots or blueberries for snacks. This works for her.:D Good luck. I know how flustering it can be to find a scedule that works for you both.:p |

So I got off work at 8am this morning (my niece takes Bella overnight) and slept in til 2pm. Bella normally sleeps with me and in the morning, she'll normally gag and throws up clear sticky spit(?). Well, this morning...she throw up yellow stuff and large chunk of something. We just got back from the vet regarding her not eating much, her nose & back of ears (I think she might have leather ears). Vet says Bella seems healthy and nothing seems wrong. She went ahead and took a fecal sample and did a fungus culture (can't believe it was $120 total visit). She also wants me to try switching Bella to Science Diet because I'm feeding her Innova right now. What are your opinions on Science Diet? |
|
I would choose Innova over Science Diet, I think the Innova is sooooo much better. I have also read that the yellowish liquid is bile, which means their stomach is empty. Glad to hear she is otherwise healthy. Maybe you will get her on a schedule that works. |

Yeah, I'm debating on switching food. I just went and bought some Evangers wet food to mix in with her dry to see if she'll eat more but you know, the first few times is like treats to them. |

Wellness is an excellent food. I would not feed science diet, the content is not nearly as good as Innova or Wellness. Glad to hear the vet gave her a clean bill of health:) |
