Mucus in eye I know all Yorkies or most get tears in their eyes that have to be cleaned constantly but lately I have been cleaning like a yellow liquid from one of Teddy's eyes and it smells. I'm thinking maybe he has an infection in it? What do you think? If i take him to the vet do they give me eye drops for it? |
Teddy probably has conjunctivitis. Do you have any Terramycin on hand? It's a staple in a good first aid kit. Terramycin for Infections in Dogs Cats Cattle Sheep and Horses If not, he needs to see a vet. Dry eye can also look like conjunctivitis so you want to get it checked out quickly. Both conjunctivitis and dry eye are very uncomfortable. |
Bubba has a bit of an infection too - almost gone after a trip to the vet - who said Bubba's eye was irritated too - so the mucas wasn't the only problem. We are using drops and they have helped so fast. |
thank you so much! i think he has an infection too |

Maddie had this same problem. It started as what was believed by one vet to be simple conjunctivitus. After a tube of ointment didn't work, I took her to another vet. There she was diagnosed with dry-eye. It just happened all of a sudden. Her tear duct wasn't working properly, so her eye was creating mucus to provide moisture. And it did stink!!! Now simple over the counter eye drops applied a few times a day keep her eyes looking fine. Good Luck |
