The one thing that the surgeon stressed was to confine him. No jumping of any kind. YT member Kalina82 actully gave me some very good pointers on somethings that I hadn't even considered. I did have Hot Rod on a pillow on the couch and at one point he kinda jumped up and couldn't get his footing and he let out a loud yelp and I went to grab/pick him up and he yelped...she said that he could have seriously hurt himself with all of those pillows and/or falling. I now have a soft crate with netting on all the sides on the table between the sofas where he is confined in. I know that Ranger will do great through the surgery. Mommy is the one that will need to sedatives (;):D) Hot Rod is 4 lbs. |

Please keep me updated on Hot Rod's recovery thoughout the weekend. I will most likely PM you this weekend to find out exactly what to expect. Thank you for being so supportive and helping me through this. Give him kisses from me. |
I'm so sorry Amanda! Next Tuesday is so soon, but at least he'll be on the road to recovery sooner. Poor baby. He is so active, it's heartbreaking to think of him having to take it easy for awhile. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers! I'm so glad he gets to go home with you that night. Especially since it's 3 hours away. |
I had an LP surgery done on one of mine. It was higher than a grade IV, a congenital defect, most likely from the mother jumping while pregnant. Even though the knee was terrible, the recovery was wonderful and a success. I wish you luck with it, but with only a grade 3 he should do perfect. |
Am I doing the right thing?? I am starting to doubt my decision as Tuesday is fast approaching. I am sitting here watching Ranger tear around the house like a mad-man, and haven't seen him pack a leg at all today. I am doing the right thing by getting him fixed now? Should I wait? I know what the research says, but it's impossible to doubt putting him through something so invasive when he shows such little sign of a problem. Please help me, I am getting really nervous.. |

It really sounds like he does need it done. It's going to need to be done sooner or later and you might as well get it over with. Three days and the scariest part will be overwith and you can get some serious cuddle time in. :) |

I am starting to get worried about the Fentanyl patch, though.... I just have to keep telling myself, that we will be on our way to recovery very soon... Did ya see his pre-op haircut? I had him buzzed super short in hopes that it will make his recovery better (no grooming), and will keep his whole body cleaner. Again, Crystal, thank you. |
Oh NO! Amanda....it just breaks my heart to read that poor little Ranger has LP and needs surgery as well  I am so, so, so sorry girl....I know EXACTLY how you are feeling right now....TRUST ME. Please know that I am here for you if you need ANYTHING at all. Do not hesitate to let me know. You will definitely be in my shoes shortly and I will be more than happy to help in any way I can. I am going to go reply to your PM now. Big hugs to you and Ranger....I promise that everything will be ok girl  Trust me, if *I* can get through it, ANYONE can. You and I and Ranger and Tate can all go through this together :) |
