Everyone on here will give you a different idea of what good food is- because everyone has different opinions on what is important. I like Orijen or Nature's Variety- I don't feed kibble- if i did I would feed a Canadian kibble called GO. |
Elvis OK, the reason I ask is I was feeding Elvis chicken and rice twice a day and supplementing it with EVO- he is extremely healthy and active however, he weighs 12 lbs - Pam |

Is he a healthy 12 lbs? Some yorkies are just big- or is he overweight? If you are worried that he is overweight I would cut out the chicken/rice and go strickly with a quality kibble- perhaps occasionally putting some chopped up chicken on his food for a treat. You can get a low calorie dog food but you don't really need to do that- just follow the guidelines on the back of the bag and perhaps feed him slightly less than what is suggested.... and walk walk walk- he should drop the extra pounds no problem. |
evo is high on protein so depending on the dog, solid gold, wellness, merrick, regular inova and other are some to consider, all the grain free will be higher in protein.. |
Snickers is on Nature's Variety Raw and EVO kibble. He is doing extremely well on it. He is on the skinny side so we don't mind the additional fat. He has been on it for a solid 2 months and is still the same. If he gains alot of weight, we will switch most likely to the reduced fat evo. I love Evo. Good luck to you...each dog is different, also feeding high protein foods are better for more active dogs. If your pup is a snuggler, then I would not recommend a high protein food. Snick is active! |
Jackson is on Merrick's Before Grain food and he loves it. It's got three flavors - Buffalo, Chicken and Salmon. So I'm gonna switch 'em up every once in a while since he gets bored! |
