Question about protein
 
I switched over to Innova today with no problems. I mixed the Innova kibble with a little bit of the Innova wet. I read that Innova is high in protein, so my concern is whether or not I may be giving my baby too much protein?

Should I just add water to her kibble instead?

Did you buy regular Innova or the Innova EVO? The regular Innova is fine but there has been some concern over the protein levels in EVO. If you are using regular Innova dry and wet you should be fine just mixing a little of each...that's how I feed mine.

You should be fine, I really liked the Innova puppy until we figured that was causing all of Ranger's gastro problems. Anyway, the Innova canned is very high in fat, so that could be of some concern. It may be too rich for the pup.

I agree. It seems to be the high fat content in Innova that can cause some problems. I've mentioned before that a little Maltese on another forum had high triglycerides and fat deposits in his eyes while on Innova Evo. A change in diet (to Wellness) reversed it.

I personally think Nature's Variety Prairie is a better choice if you want to feed a high protein food. That was one of the few commercial diets Lady's specialist said he approved of. Lady was on it for years and did beautifully. It was only in the past year when her liver values became elevated (from 10 years of phenobarbital) that I had to switch to homecooked.

I never heard of Natures Variety, I'll look into that . But in the meantime, I will monitor her closely. Thanks Everyone

it has several different flavors so to speak so you can switch them if you prefer to
