Canidae suggestions I am switching Maddie to a new food. I am not sure, but I think she may have food alergies. I was looking at Canidae Grain Free All Stages, but I was afraid the protein is too high, she's more of a cuddler:p, so I also looked at Canidae All Life Stages. I like that it is "All Natural, Human Grade, Holistic Pet Food". However, I was curious is anyone has had experiences with this...good or bad. Thanks All! |
If you think it is food allergies, Canidae just has way too many ingredients (unless you know what is causing the allergy). If she is an adult, how about one of Natural Balance's Limited Ingredient Diets and then slowly add other foods in? |

I have her on RC for Yorkies. I switched to it from Iams, which she was on as a puppy. She keeps eye problems, and itchy skin. |
What's the problem with her ears? RC makes lots of Yorkies itchy but it could be something else like environmental allergies, fleas, mites, yeast, infection, etc. If you think it is food, then an elimination diet would need to be done. Natural Balance has a couple food like Venison and Sweet Potato and Sweet Potato and Duck (limited ingredients diets) that don't have many ingredients in them (at least not ones that dogs are often intolerant of). California Natural also has a few foods that may work but they aren't grain free. Or you could talk to a nutritionist and homecook. |
I was feeding the girls a mixture of Canidae (chicken) all stages and Merricks (grammys pot pie)...with about 2 tablespoons of canidae wet...They LOVED it! Because the store I buy from no longer sells the smaller bags I have switched to using just the Merricks. A 50lb bag for these little ones would go bad before I could even finish half! Anyway...My daughter has a golden retriever that has allergies...she put him on Wellness...He has been doing great since the change...Wellness has a site you can go to also. It is made locally (around me) and is all natural ingredients. Good Luck! |

She has no fleas, mites, or yeast problems. All that has been checked out. |
