hairloss My pretty little girls is losing lots of hair. :( I think that it might be a combo issue withe herfood not being good enouhg (bluebuffalo) I noticed over the last week or so there was quite a bit of hair I was picking up around her pen area. I blamed it on the other dogs because it made sense to me at the time, hoiwever when I was giving coco a bath last night I seen were itmust becomingfrom. On the upper part o f her rear leg she has signifigant hair loss. Thisis only happeningon one leg, the other seems fine. couple things i've been thinking of might cause it as an issue Isuppose. 1. I changed her shampoo about a month oflittle more ago, and on that samethough I wonder if I don['t rinse that hind leg well enough. Its oppositeofme when i'm bathing her. \ 2. Diet, I've been giving her Blue Buffalo now that Bella isno longerwith us Ifelt Ishould be up to a better quality food..Idon't know if this one is doing itthough. I just sat here imagining how my little Coco b would look with a shaved body, she would be so cold. :( Of course I would still love her just the same. OH, and just so you are aware, I will be bringging her to the vet asap. Any ideas from you folks to help me try to make this better at home. |
Ooo, I'd get a fungal culture on that area asap - it could be ringworm or even mange. Rworm in dogs will not nec. show up as a ring, but it can more be like an area of hair loss. Marcel caught it from his vet and I'm treating him for it now - it started on the top of his head. Hairloss from food is usually only if there is a malabsorption problem - and that's rare and you'd also see some other pretty severe symptoms. What is the skin like at the area of loss? Does she chew/lick her leg? |

Could it be due to stress of losing Bella? Poor thing! I hope all is well with her! |
My yorkie had hair loss and thining on his head and all down his back. I was feeding him Royal Canine and once I changed to Nature's Variety his hair started to grow in again. |
hairloss can also be a symptom of a thryoid problem! (hope you get it all figured out soon.. xox.) |
Marley is 3 months old and I took him to the vet today because his hair is getting thin. I am feeding him Natural Balance food and my vet said that is a good food and that she feeds it to her girl also. She put him on Pet-Form Vitamins and Derm Caps. She also told me to start using an anti-seborrheic shampoo which she ordered for me today. Hopefully this will help. She said he could have allergies and that if the pills she gave me diddn't seem to help that I might want to consider allergy tests. |
