Madison getting Spayed! - Need Advice My little girl is getting spayed on Monday. I'm dropping her off in the morning, going to work then picking her up whenever they call me. I do have Riley (he's already fixed) and they both LOVE to play with each other all the time but now I'm stuck on what to do with Maddie when she gets home. I do have a wired crate that is big enough so she would be comfortable in it while she heals the first night. I know they aren't supposed to be doing alot of running and jumping.. Riley and her love to chase each other around. How would I keep this to a minimum? I don't want her to feel like shes stuck in the crate while Riley gets to run around freely. Also I know people have bought onesies for their girls for after the spay. Anyone know what size to buy? I'm thinking I'd have to get a preemie size.. she's 4 pounds. Any advice or suggestions would be great!! Especially if you have 2+ furkids! I've never had to go through this with a girl before LOL :p:p |
well i only have one- so i'm no help there- but with the onesie a premie should fit perfect. I kept them on especially at night time when I couldn't watch her but for the most part she was very uninterested in her stitches. |
A premie should work. I'd try it before the spay so you can get something else if it doesn't fit right. I know with Ellie the bigger onesie was too big in the neck and she crawled out of it. The smaller one was a good size but she is too long for it, so an extension had to be sewn on. No running, jumping or playing for at least 7-10 days. She will need to be crated the whole time unless you are watching her. They can't be allowed to chase each other because if something happens to the inside sutures or an abscess forms, you will likely need to have her anesthetized again for another procedure. |

She'll be alright, girl! I know it didn't phase Lilly, she wanted to play and run and jump so bad, it was the hardest thing keeping her from jumping and playing. |
It took Lola about 4 days to get better. She sleeped all day on my bed. I gave her pain meds so she was very relaxed. She never licked her stiches. |
I am sure she'll do fine. Just try to keep her as calm as possible. |
