Puppy shots finished! Reaction! Today Chloe finished all of her puppy shots and got her rabies shot and little rabies tag! About 2 hours later she threw up a little yellowish liquid so I called the vet to be on the safe side and asked if thats normal they told me to bring her right in! I was so freaked out and worried. I rushed her in. They said she was okay and her tummy was probably just upset they just wanted to check to make sure her blood pressure wasnt dropping which it was not. She was yelping a little from her injections though (they said she is sensitive) so to be sure the reaction and pain would not continue they gave her a little pain pill and a sterriod shot. I feel much better and not worried now and I love my vet. I don't think I would have been so worried but the girl on the phone said "bring her right in" so I was like OMG whats wrong! Now next year when rabies shots come around again we know tho take precaution. |
Glad she is otay! I am happy that you took her back to the vet! That is odd that it took about 2 hours for her to react though, I was always told that it usually takes 30 min for any vaccine reaction to occur, usually the vets I worked with wouldn't let our clients and dogs/cats leave until they knew they were ok! Good thing that they noted it though, so next time they will probably give her predinsone and benedryl so she doesnt get a vaccine reaction! Glad she is otay!!!!! :) |
I'm glad she's okay. FYI, it's always a good idea to give the rabies separate from the other vaccinations to minimize the risk of a serious reaction. Ideally, she would have had the last booster, then waited 2-3 weeks for the rabies. |

Good Point! I fogot to mention that! Usually with these smaller breeds, they shouldnt get all the vaccines at once! |
thats what the vet said when she gave it to her...she also had the bordatella today. Before giving both they asked how she was from her shots last time...I told them she was fine, no difference in behavior or attitude at all so I think thats why they decided to do both. Im sure that could have had something to do with it also though. |
