My baby isnt eating! Help!! For the last few days Prissy hasn't been eating. She is still bouncy and happy well she seems that way. But I can't get her to eat next to nothing. I had been feeding her home cooked meals, making sure that she got breakfast, lunch and dinner, snacks. She has kibble in her dish just in case she wanted that..nope! She is still drinking water. She will take a couple bites of meat later in the day. Now what? Time to see the doc... |
How old is she? How much does she weigh? What are you home cooking her? What kibble? |
I would give her some Kero syrup to make sure her sugar levels are up. Have you tried giving her some other type of foods to eat. When I am worried mine aren't eating enough I give them Baby food, chicken whatever I can to get them eating. I would most certainly make an appointment at the vet. Wishing you and your baby the best! |

Have you had blood work done on her? Or a Bile Acid Test? If not, YES I would go to the Vet for a CBC and a serium BAT. The foods you are cooking for her are not balanced and do not have the proper vitamins and minerals that her body needs. If you want to home cook, you really need to consult with a Pet Nutritionist to create a balanced diet for her. |
No I don't think you need to see the vet. Put a little hot water and some chicken or beef broth in the kibbles and let it get soft. That should work. |
From experience, I would definately see a vet and make him take blood work. Doolittle seemed fine for a few days without eating and he was only 1.5 lbs. It could be nothing but her deciding to be finicky. I don't understand how they can eat so well then all of a sudden decide they don't like anything but I've been told it happens alot. It's better be safe than sorry though; so, I would have blood work done to rule out real problems. |
BTW Eukanuba is not to good as a dog food quality. Check out this site: Dog Food Reviews - Main Index - Powered by ReviewPost Once you baby feel better. You might want to change his food... If your baby still refused food in 2-3 days I would take him to the vet.. |
Thanks for all your advise. Prissy is a very picky eater tho.. She used to eat alot of stuff but within tha last 4-5 months she has decided that she don't really like anything that is good for her. Besides meat, chicken, fish/tuna thats about it. I will try getting some chicken/beef broth and try that again. I tried the karo syrup she don't like that and she won't take nutrical now either. I will give it one more day, like I said she does eat a little more in the evening. She is still active and seems happy. I will keep you posted!!! THANKS |
My concern is that she is 3.4 lbs and liver issues are so common with Yorkies. If you haven't already, I would get her Bile Acid Tested (BAT) and a CBC blood panel  |
