Tear Staining
 
Watched a groomer this morning on the Today show. She said if a dog has tear staining, to take a couple drops of distilled vinegar and put it in their water.

Vinegar is very good for many uses. I was going to try it, my biewer is the worse with tear staining, but, I only had the dark vinegar, will buy some of the white distilled to try. It would never hurt them, and if it works, to me it's worth trying. It also said on there why not to use regular people shampoo on dogs. She did say after awhile of doing this, and washing out their natural oils, your dogs hair is going to start looking really bad, which I have seen with my sisters yorkie. She used to always use her shampoo on her 13 year old yorkie, there is no more shine to her now.

I really don't like using thing's That arn't made for dog's Even Then If it's just for look's I don't want to mess with it.

You use 2 drops in water. I actually just went in and read and it says this will kill fleas on dogs also

We have used Angel Eyes and have wonderful results.

This is what we use too. It works great and you dont have to use the recommend amount to get results. I Know some are against it because it can cause high Liver enzymes (???) in some dogs but I havent had any issues with it. I only use it when I see that my dogs are starting to stain agian, I use it for 2 weeks or so every other day and it goes away for a few months. Im going to look into the vinegar idea. I know that vinegar is used in many things and I dont think that it would be harmful to our pets.

I use my shampoo on my dog and her coat actually looks better then it did before. I just don't see myself spending 10 bucks on dog shampoo if I don't even buy MYSELF shampoo that is that expensive and wouldnt!

That's fine if you use your shampoo, it's your dog and your dogs hair. I just want my dogs hair to continue being beautiful.

They said not much, just the couple drops. They say it's good(was doing research) keeping fleas away too. Wouldn't it be great if it did work for that, and we didn't have to buy the flea meds? Hows that beautiful little boy doing?

Yes that would be awesome it if did work for fleas too!! :D He is doing great, I do beleive we have finally conqured potty training. :animal36 He is alittle spite fire though, man he is one crazy little dog..lol. Are all boy dogs this way?? I know my female is so laid back, you have to drag her off the couch to get her to go outside. Tucker is constantly aggrivating her. :rolleyes:
Anyways, how is your teeny tiny doing? Has she gained anymore weight? What is her name anyways..lol. I dont think you have ever told me.

My only boy has always been more hyper than my girls, but how can you not love them when they're so full of pee and vinegar.
I have to go to the store and get the distilled vinegar, only have the other kind. I am going to try it though

I've never heard that angel eyes gives dogs high liver enzymes. I just started using angel eyes for my maltese half the recommended dosage. sometime my yorkie gets the food that has the angel eyes in it so I know she's getting some too. she never has goopy eyes though. so the stuff does work.
Anyone know where the research came from about high liver enzymes and angel eyes??

The vinegar might be worth a try.
I used to have a maltese, I used to use peroxide under her eyes. My sister has a maltese, she gives her distilled water, I'm also going to let her know about the vinegar

yep our breeder said do the peroxide too. which I have but then I have to do that daily and it doesn't always fully take away the tear stains. ( which seem to have gotten worse lately) also we've only ever given our dogs distilled water. For now the angel eyes are working and I'm giving them half the recommended doseage. Hopefully it won't reek havoc on their livers:(
