HELP! Teething and excessive Barking OK SO Junior never ever used to bark.. not a peep out of him for the 4 months that i have had him, he would only bark if he had to pee (he is 7 months old) NOW that he is teething he wont stop barking and Whining.. I have given him chew toys, frozen toys, everything i can think of. I dont want him to get into the habit of everytime he barks i do something.. I just dont know what else to do.. I dont want to get one of those collars that zap him.. i just think that he is too small for that (6pds) i did borrow a bark machine from a friend who also has ayorkie that went thru the same hing but Junior likes the sound it makes and instead of stopping he barks louder... the excessive bark and whining is driving me up the wall.. i wouldnt mind a few barks here and there.. like when he wants to go outside to pee or when something he wants is stuck under the couch.. but he just bark and barks and whines and whines ... any one else went or going thru this... ???? Hi- my little one definitely went through that- and still is- she's one year old now. I tried everything too. What worked for me was either playing (ball/catch/fetch) with her in the house or putting her on her harness and leash and taking her for a walk thru the house. Also, I never responded to her when she was loud. I read where if you tell her "No" and "Stop it" all the time, they sometimes think you're joining in and will get louder. Also, I would turn my back (literally) for a few minutes until she was quiet-even if she is only quiet for half a second. Also- she seemed to get better if I held her or let her lay on my lap. Hope that helps...:) |
