Constant Sneezing: NOT reverse Sneezing Hi All, I just got my 3 year old rescue Yorkie mix home after he had to be spayed first at the local pound. Now he is sneezing little sneezes constantly. Eating fine; playing fine; just the sneezes. What do you think is wrong? He was fine before surgery the two days I went and played with him. Now, a day after surgery; the sneezes begin. HELP!~ He goes for his booster shot on Monday; so I'll have it checked then; but could use some help ASAP. Thank You! Whoababe :animal36 |
prince had this problem too and i thought he was allergic to something in my house, but i brought him to the vet and they said that it might be the begining of a cold so he put prince on some antibiotic i think amoxicylin (sp?) for 14days and it cleared right up! i hope this helps:rolleyes: |
Thanks Yeah, I wondered if he caught something at the pound. I appreciate it. Don't know anything about Yorkies, but this one is sooo smart. Just got him home and he's already crate trained; goes to the leash to go out; very cool dog. Have a Great Day. :) |
First off...Hi! :wavey: :welcome4: :yorkiesar I agree with melissa912, I think he might have a cold starting. Good thing you already have an appointment on Monday. These things can get out of control quickly. Please let us know what your vet says, ok? Oh, a please post some pictures when you can. :) |
Sooner? Thank you for helping me. Should I take him sooner, like tomorrow. Or, if he stays the same - wait till Monday? Of course, if he got worse, I'd take him sooner. He is a cutie; but a sad story behind him. Was a stray wound up at the pound - a mess of tangles, dirty, depressed. I asked if I could take him to Petsmart to have him groomed before his spaying - but the pound would NOT let me. I asked if I could come bath him there at the pound and they said NO. So, I asked them if someone there would wash him before surgery. Noone did. He is really smelly and dirty and I'm upset that they'd operate on him like that. I did bring him to my vet to check the incision and it looked good; and he wasn't sneezing at that point. Was still sedated. Could hardly walk when they released him. So groggy. Seems cruel. They didn't even give any pain pills for him; so we got some at our local vet who looked at the surgery meds they used and okayed some pain liquid. We've only given one day of it; he seems fine and is jumping around. I'll post some pictures of Sparky this weekend. :*) Any advice is welcome. How to get the doggy odor away? can't bath him for 10 days. aargh. Bought a spray in conditioner to wet him down some and comb him; but still smells. I was told to put baby powder on him; but I don't think that's good for his lungs. He's in the kitchen as is not allowed to live outside by pound rules; and I think a good rule cause he's small, 10 pounds, and silky hair. :animal-pa Thanks, Lenore |
