Anyone NOT a Morning Eater? Are there any puppies out there not a morning eater? Is that normal? I feed my 6.5 months old 2-3 times a day and when I do it in the morning before I leave the house for work - he doesn't eat!!! He won't even go near his food. Even when I mix it with wet food which he loves. I tried letting him have a mini playdate with dogs next door and then feed him, once again he wouldn't go near his food. Is that normal? Are they like humans, maybe no appetite in the morning after they wake? |
Isla's 8 months and most of the time she doesn't like to eat in the morning either. I end up feeding her at supper time or earlier if she's by her dish. She seems to eat the best then, so I figure, why not? If she's eating then why does it matter the time of day? She's actually not that big of an eater to begin with. She seems to live on the smallest amount of food possible for her!;) |
I basically feed Fiona twice a day, however, it's now sorta a free feed for her. I rent the basement of a house with my boyfriend- since we are in the process of buying a house together, and we have to keep Fiona in our room with a baby gate, so I leave her food down, however, she tends to want to eat late late late at night, like anywhere from 9pm-11pm, its crazy! :D |
Yes I have the same problem as Isla and Fiona. Charlie doesn't eat in the morning OR when Im not home, then I go to work - dont come home till 6ish. It's almost like he eats for the first time at 6pm then again at 9pm. The schedule is so off and sounds unhealthy to me. I dont know what to do! |

Oh it makes me feel so much better that Charlie isn't the only one that chooses to eat only at 6ish ... so weird though, isn't it?? So how much does Max eat in a day? |
Nikko has never been a big fan of eating in the morning either... Morning is too filled with other activities, namely playing. Then when he's finally satisfied that he's played and explored enough, he'll eat a bit. Serious eating-time doesn't usually happen until 6-11pm. Lauren & Nikko |

He is not to skinny and not fat. I free feed so I hope he would eat if he wants to. Seems to be working. Vet says his weight is just right. He also gets a couple little biscuits and a Yammy (Sam's Yam or Bichon fry or 2) everyday |
I feed on a schedule as Pao is on homecooking and he is not a morning eater at all. I always try to get him to eat some though and he usually will eat a little after coming home from his morning walk. |
i used to get SO worried about Layla in the mornings- with low blood sugar because she wasn't eating- so i would mix up baby food fruit with organic yogurt (low fat- NOT lite) and she would eat that RIGHT up and i at least knew she had soemthing in her! now we use it for her nightly snacks :D |
I also free feed Snick in the evenings but his poops have been so far off lately that I had to stop. When I had him on scheduled feedings, he pooped at the same time everyday. Since I started free feeding a few weeks back, his poops are unpredictable and it drives me nuts. Yesterday I gave him his morning meal (at little) and then his afternoon snack-banana, and then his evening mean from 530-7 and thats it. I did mix his evening dry kibble with some canned and her scarfed it right down. This morning when I went to feed him, scarfed it down again. I think with the late evening feedings, he eats less in the morning. Tonight I am not gonna mix in his wet and just let him eat dry. Hopefully I can get predictable poops again. Seems he always has to go when we are NOT home....and will poop on his pad or crate...ew. He is also suffering from Sep Anx which makes it hard for him to hold it till lunchtime. |
prince also doesnt want to eat in the morning and it worries me because he has gone overnight without eating so i usually give him some nutracal and then i play a game with him to get him to eat a little, he also likes to eat around 7pm |
