Goat milk beneficial? I was grocery shopping at whole foods last Saturday. and saw bottles of fresh goat milk for animals(raw and for animal consumption only) in the refridgerated section. Hubby said it was mostly used for kittens, but dogs would be ok with it as well. I've heard that goat milk is good for weight gain in dogs, and since we are trying to get dolly to gain some weight, it might be a good idea to give it a try. but I just have a few concerns. since I've tried regular milk before and she had diarrhea after. and Im not sure if this goat milk will cause the same problem. also the weight gain associated with goat milk, is it healthy gain? lastly, it comes in only big half gallon bottles, is it ok if I freeze the unused portion before it goes bad, to not waste anything! has anyone tried goat milk for their pups/adults? and is it a good turnout? thanks in advance. |
Goat's milk is beneficial for goats. ;) Dogs are considered lactose intolerant...although goat's milk contains less lactose than cow's milk. As far as weight gain any increase in calories that aren't burned off by the dog will simply result in fat...not muscle. PS yes milk freezes. |
