Introducing our little girl (8 wks) to our 2 boys (2 years old) Hi im new to here. We have three yorkshire terriers, 2 boys two years old who are brothers from the same litter, and a 8 week old girl, who weve had for 4 days. Has anyone any advice for introducing her to the boys so far they have been in the same room but we havent allowed much contact other than letting them look and sniff her a bit. She is playful and is teething but we are afraid that the boys mightnt get this. We dont want any jealousy so the sooner we can get them all used to eachother the better, but we dont know how to do this. we dont want our boys to get stressed. Thanks Aimee |
I'm certainly no expert . . . my boys are 2 yrs apart. It took a little bit, but not too long to get used to each other (week or two till buddies). Woody is now 6 and very much an A personality, Bogie is 4 and very B personality. I would maybe try sitting with all 3 on the floor and try to play:confused: I guess I has it easy, Woody was depressed from the loss of Mika (our golden) and was kinda happy to have a playmate again. Especially one that wouldn't try to boss him around. |
I have 4 inside(2 outside) dogs. The newest one came home back on November at 5 1/2 mos old. I put her down and let the other ones smell her. The oldest one(11 year old shih tzu) wanted to start playing with her right away. I always bring new ones in, put them down, let them smell eachother and let them all play. Of course, I do stay right in the room with them |
i dont have any experience doing this (yet!!) but i have heard that it is a good idea to let the dogs meet on a nuetral territory so the boys dont feel like she is taking their space away? i dont know how true this is, but i'll be introducing a bigger breed dog to my yorkie puppy soon so i'm interested in hearing the advice you get as well! |
