Rhianna doesn't feel well today . . . Yesterday Rhianna didn't seem like her normal playful self but was eating and drinking fine . . .she seemed tired and blah. She is just ending her heat cycle and I don't know if that has anything to do with that. Last night around 2am and then again at 4am she threw up what she ate at dinner time . . she had some plain chopped up chicken along with her dinner. Still this morning she just isn't herself . . .she went outside did her potty (pee & poop were normal) took a small drink of water, then went in her bed . . . I don't know if she has a stomach bug or is it something to do with her cycle . . . |
I have never had a dog in heat but My cat was just in heat and she vomitted a couple of times also |
One thing that you need to watch closely for if you have an unspayed female in pyometra. Is she still having discharge? When was her last day of that? Does she seem uncomfortable in general? Can you take her temp? |
Is chicken something new for her? Was it marinated or spiced or anything? |
She still has a tiny amount of discharge, throughout her heat cycle, there was very little discharge, when she first started it was red, then during her second stage, it was a strawlike color, then it turned back to red. She doesn't seem uncomfortable, she just seems like blah, like I want to rest kind of mood. I will attempt to take her temp. |
She's had chicken before . . it had a small amount of marinade on it, that I rinsed off before placing it in her dish. Trying to take her temp digitally, hopefully she'll let me . . . |
Symptoms of open pyo would be fever, depression, lethargy, iinappetance, polyuria, polydipsia and a yellow, red or brownish discharge. I'm not sure why it would've want back to red after estrus. |
Hmmmmm . . .she doesn't seem overly thirsty and her urine output is normal as usual. Her temp is 101.3 . . .which I cannot tell if that is different from her every day temp. I'm going to call the vet soon to give him the information and see what he thinks. Thankfully, he's only a 10 minute drive. She just doesn't seem like her normal happy self . . .ya know? |

The problem is, they do get "blah" when they're in heat and it means nothing. But if they are lethary, don't want to eat, etc., then there might be a problem. The younger she is, the less chance of pyo. I would be a bit concerned that the discharge is dark again though. |
She's 9 months old now. It was just a speck of a red discharge, it was not like when she first started her cycle. She had eaten well all week long, the throw up last night took me by surprise. As I sifted through it on my bedspread last night it was all digested food . . .looked like chicken color . . .smelled like food. |
