Bacterial Infection? So today Chloe went for more puppy shots and I mentioned to the Vet that I wanted her ears checked...they seem to itch her and smell a little wierd at times so I figured we needed a good cleaner. Well the test comes back and she has a pretty strong bacterial infection in her ears! My poor girl. I have no idea how long she has had it but we got the cleaner and the drops to get rid of it. The vet said that hopefully that cures it and its not a reglar occuring thing for her. Does anyone else have this problem with their yorkies? Is it a really common thing? |
Make sure you clean her ears out after you bathe her. Make sure they are dry inside. I dont like QTips but I roll a piece of tissue into a thin point and gently clean and dry the inside. Water left in their ears can cause Bac Infection and Yeast. The meds should clear it up...Also use a good ear wash... |
More ear questions... Poor Chloe! :( On the topic of ears... what does ear cleaner do? and would anyone recommend a certain one? Also, internal ear hair... do people pluck it? I know it's important to keep the hair out of the ears, but plucking sounds painful! |
epi-otic advance is the cleaner the vet gave us today. Its a pretty big bottle. she said to do it once a day for the next wek along with the drops and then after every bath from now on... |
Ellie gets yeast infections, not bacterial. Otomax always takes care of it. We use Chlorhexiderm Flush for cleaner. I do use q-tips and prefer them because I think they clean best but they have to be used the right way and some vets don't want their clients using them at all. |
One of my dogs is prone to ear infections. Last time she put him on Temaril P and 3V Caps fish oil...Cleared it right up....For Yeast I use Liquid Lotrimine...My Yorkies seem not to be prone to Ear Infections but I have had 2 Scotties that both suffered from ear problems.... |
